Guest guest
- Since dairy products contain lactoferrin, milk also inhibits the absorption of iron. This is what I'm confused about. I thought there was just recently a discussion on supplementing lactoferrin, and how it could be really GOOD for iro! n deficient anemia BECAUSE it binds iron, and helps absorption. For instance, this website I just found talks about how lactoferrin is supposed to help iron absorption by binding to the iron and taking it where it needs to go: http://www.healthyfellow.com/309/lactoferrin-and-anemia/Am I missing something?Yeah - the fact that not all of this is well understood. And sometimesthere is no consensus on how stuff works. Mara
Guest guest
On further consideration - I would follow Seth's advice - he's a biochemist, I believe. And his advice was that lactoferrin bounds to the iron so thatit would not feed the bacteria. So keep on eating your smoothieswith yogurt Alyssa.
