Guest guest
Hi guys i just came across your convo on this and thought id in put my view from my exp. Fortunatley for me my splint was removed about 3-4 days after surgery, as my surgeon+colleuges decided that it wasnt really serving a purpose. I had no arguements here, so long as my face didnt fall off! However without the splint i was still restricted to liquid foods only for 6 weeks after surgery. following this 6 weeks i progressed to a diet of 'mushy foods'. which i accepted greatfully as i had just about had enough of the liquids. everyone is different tho. it will also depend on the kind of surgery you had done. i had upper, lower, RPE and sinus work. there was no room in there to get a spoon or a tablet let alone a nice piece of juicy steak which i so desperatley craved. I would say my dream (a steak) came true when i managed to ever so slowly eat christmas dinner - i had my surgery on the 1st of august of that year (2002). so i guess what everyone post op will say the key is patience - which we all at some point come to hate that word! one tip i will give you. vary your food. anything that will go into a blender try it! my fav's were sunday lunches/roasts, beans on toast etc. hope this is of help and that your recoveries thus far are going well. kind regards kat_UK nathicsurgerysupport , " Tara " <daydreamer985@y...> wrote: > , > Hey girl... > I too have a splint attached to my top jaw.
