Guest guest
I've asked you all about this a few weeks ago and I thank you for your response. But I'm back. My 15 year old daughter who is on SCD has been dizzy for a month and 1/2. We are now getting an MRI, seeing an audiologist and neurologist. No one knows what is causing it. and it is actually getting worse as the weeks go by. She had a head cold and we flew on a plane in March. In April I started to lower her Lexapro and then the dizziness started. I ended up bumpling it back up to the original dose and she's been at that dosage for a month and still dizzy and getting worse. Just wondered if anyone had any tips or suggestions. Marla p. Is the liquid lemon flavored CLO ok? I can't send a link from my phone but I get it from www.vitacost. com .Otherwise I could get the regular. I add it to my glass of warm water and lemon juice in the am.What brand is it? Different brands have different ingredients. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Just wondered if anyone had any tips or suggestions. Not sure if this will help at all or not, but I used to get dizzy/lightheaded pretty often, and usually acupuncture would help. I guess it was just something out of balance in my body that acupuncture fixed. Maybe something to try if nothing else helps? Guest guest
Marla, Does she have any fillings in her teeth? Maybe there is a crack in one of them (if all other avenues of docs fail) It's terrible being so dizzy. Jodi > > > Is the liquid lemon flavored CLO ok? Guest guest
She has no fillings at all in her mouth. But she does have braces and a huge appliance in her mouth to help her jaw. Just thought I'd mention that. Marla P. Guest guest
Marla- I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but I scanned all of the responses to your emails and no one brought up anemia (obviously it's on my mind!). I am assuming that if they've ordered an MRI, they've looked at her blood counts? I get super dizzy when my counts are low. -Joanna SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992, 32.5mg Prednisone > > She has no fillings at all in her mouth. Guest guest
She did have blood work done. But not sure on anemia. She does have an MRI tomorrow. To check the blood flow, is the iv necessary? Guest guest
Have they checked her for an inner ear infection? I had two and they are horrid - don't know that the dizziness would last this long, but it may be a combo of things. Worth a try - actually the DR or a nurse could walk you thru how to check her eyes via the phone. I had tried lexapro for a week - lowest dose, after 5 days woke up with dry heaves - severe, runs and was a little dizzy too. I sure hope she feels better, my heart goes out to her. Best wishes! Guest guest
Hypoglycemia can contribute to dizzyness, too.
Guest guest
Have you tried something other than Lexapro or to make sure her vision is ok? I know lots of variables. I just thought of it because I recently had my annual eye exam. That can be hard to pinpoint unless you've recently had a prescription change. Hope she feels better soon. I also get dizzy when I'm anemic or on prednisone. And if I haven't eaten, especially some type of protein. Good luck with the tests, Debbie 41 cd Hypoglycemia can contribute to dizzyness, too. Marla P. Of the various MRI's that I have had, the one to check my pituitary did require some contrast medium in an IV. I think it depends on whether they are checking blood or other fluid flow, yes, I suspect they would. Checking my shoulder for its (as it turned out) total lack of cartilege, no. Guest guest
Another possibility. My aunt had horrible dizziness and they finally diagnosed it as labyrinthitis (whatever that is).
Guest guest
I'll have to look at my copies of test results from the neurological workup to see if that was one of the conditions listed. If not, I'll check into it. Thanks for the suggestions. I can use all the help I can get [grin]. Guest guest
Just wanted to add that i suffered (and still do) with TMJ as well and although for me it didn't cause dizziness, it certainly can. Dentists couldn't help the problem though. I had to go to a cranio-facial surgeon and he helped me a great deal. I also had a friend who suffered from severe dizziness/vertigo that got worse and worse. She said the condition it seemed most like was labyrinthitis. Unfortunately I'm not exactly sure how she got over it though I think it had something to do with the frequent migraines she deals with. Stacey > > Hi Marla, > You mentioned that your daughter wears braces and also has a device to help her jaw. Perhaps she is having some muscle issues in her neck or the back of her head, which could very well be causing her dizziness. > I have had TMJ problems for about 3 years; in the course of trying to find a reputable dentist who could help me, I have undergone many kinds of treatments, one of the most helpful being physical therapy for my neck and upper back. Because the muscles in the jaw are significantly intertwined with our necks and upper backs, any change in jaw alignment (via braces or prosthetics) can affect our equilibrium. The inner ear is also closely tied to these muscles. > I have suffered with dizziness for quite awhile, but if I see my physical therapist or chiropractor and do at-home exercises, the dizziness almost always gets better. Just thought you might want a different perspective in case all your daughter's tests come back normal. > > Pam >
