This is the hardest thing i have done to date is not smoke.

BTW i gained 16 lbs in the process!!

i am sure with the lower body lift he will take at least that off.

Congratulations, ! You have managed a great accomplishment. As the

pulmonologist said to me when I told him I'd quit smoking (a long time ago now)

" that is the very best one thing you could have done for your health. " I hope

you plan to continue to be a non-smoker after your LBL as well. I gained about

30 lbs when I quit (in 1989) and never lost them till I had WLS. But I'm sure

that won't happen to you now, as a post-op. I chewed a lot of sugarless gum and

ate a lot of sugarless candy (and had a lot of diarrhea, LOL) and to this

DAY, I still chew on toothpicks and coffee stirrers. Hope you find whatever

" crutchy " YOU need to stay away from those nasty cigarettes. BTW, I never really

wanted to quit, and I loved every cigarette I ever smoked. But I'm certainly

glad that I DID quit and very grateful that I've been able to STAY quit.

I am also 18 mos. out and had my bone density test which showed Osteopenia.

My doctor said that anyone else with my results at my age (42) would not be

recomended to do anything but take more calcium and increase weight bearing

exercise but since my malabsorbtion issue is most likely what caused these

levels

in the first place, he is putting me on Fosamax so there will not be any

further deterioration. Maybe your gyno is not familiar with our issues. Why

don't

you see if maybe there is a gyno that your surgeon knows of who might be more

familiar with our 'needs'.

I don't know for sure, but I remember hearing Fosamax was bad for the

pouchies -- have you checked into it?
