Guest guest
Which fingers? Amber/FL numb fingers Hello everyone, I am nearly 2 years post op and have been having numb fingers in my left hand, has anyone ever had this? Could this be a vitamin deficiency of some kind? I have been real tired lately and have gained about 10 lbs back in the past 4 months, I see my doc soon but I was curious if anyone ever had the numb finger thing? Thanks for any advice. Guest guest
ALL of my fingers, and toes have been numb for several years now. If they aren't numb, they're cold or tingly, like pins and needles. It always feels like I have sand in my shoes. All kinds of tests have been done. All the doctors could tell me is that it is Reynaud's Syndrome. Basically, this means they don't know what causes it. But it seems that a lot of WLS patients do. My mother does. Her doctor called it neuropathy. Here's a link that tells a little more about it. http://www.neuropathy-trust.org/mainpages/education/pn/what_is_pn.htm Jac http://www.pictureitdigitaldesigns.com/ http://members.cox.net/XXXFARMPAINTS mail to: jholdaway@... numb fingers Hello everyone, I am nearly 2 years post op and have been having numb fingers in my left hand, has anyone ever had this? Yes, the fingers of my left hand have had varying degrees of numbness ever since my RNY surgery on 12/13/01. There can be many different reasons for it but because yours started so long after surgery, I would first check out possible vitamin deficiency. The next time you have your blood profile done, I would ask your doctor to include a blood glucose test to check for signs of Diabetes. High blood glucose levels can damage nerve endings over time causing a condition called Diabetic Neuropathy. Because I was a Type II Diabetic prior to my weight loss, I do experience nueropathy in my feet and legs. But the numbness in my left hand still baffles me as my blood glucose levels have been normal for quite some time and my recent blood profile showed no vitamin deficiencies. Guess I'm just lucky. Guest guest
Every surgery or procedure that I've been put through I've come out with a crick in something it seems. I was finally convinced to see a Chiroprator in the late 80's after I having WLS surgery in 1981, and being involved in a car accident in 1982. I had headaches every day for 4 1/2 years. The Drs put me on every muscle relaxer, pain killer, and physical therapy regime they could think of. I couldn't take the meds during the day and work. So I endured the blinding sick headaches, went home and took the meds and went to bed. Pretty sad for a 20 something person, and 4 1/2 years of my life in pain. When I went to the Chiroprator, I was really sceptical, but the person that did the convincing is a person I trust. After 3 1/2 months on treatment 3x's a week, I finally was headache free, no tingling in my hands and arms, no pain in my low back and legs. Towards the end of the 3 1/2 months, I left his office one day and didn't know if I'd make it home before I feel asleep. My body was totally relaxed for the first time in years. It was like I had been given a sleeping pill or a muscle relaxer. I still see the Chiroprator as needed, and he really gave me my life back! If anyone in the OKC area would like to know of a good one, be more than happy to give you his name! This may not be the answer for everyone, but it sure did the trick for me. Guest guest
Well, neuropathy is a different animal than Raynaud's. Raynaud's is in the auto immune family. Usually associated with rheumatoid arthritis (mine is osteo, though); lupus; fibro & so on. Treated by a rheumatologist. Raynaud's is why I am 5 weeks post-op from this minor foot surgery & not healed. Still have booboos where I should have smooth scars. This is the first time in 20 yrs that it has made me think about it as other than inconvenient & uncomfy. I can't go very far with the PT while I have " wounds " . And if I don't, I'll be in worse shape with those joints than I was before the surgery. I don't think the pod or I knew how bad the Raynaud's was. Was a big surprise to me, lemme tell ya. NOW I know it is pretty serious business and you can actually lose toes to it. I've only actually met one other person with it, at least who KNEW that was it. The numb fingers--do they lose color? Only when cold? Or temp has nothing to do with it? Raynaud's actually slams shut some of the blood vessels. Still got blood, can't get it to the extremities. My fingers turn absolutely white--no blood at all. And in a certain order. The toes probably go white at some point, but I usually notice when they are purple. They actually turned blue a few times at the conference since it was sustained cold in the a/c. I know almost nothing about this disease, but it surely has got my attention NOW. Guest guest
Mine turn white. Nail beds turn purple. At 90 degrees outside. ly, I didn't think the doctor (who is no longer my PCP) knew what the heck he was talking about. He did labs, and sent me to a cardiologist for an ultrasound on my legs, put me on meds for circulation that didn't help. Nada. I've had it so long, and it doesn't seem to get any worse, so I just live with it. Jac http://www.pictureitdigitaldesigns.com/ http://members.cox.net/XXXFARMPAINTS mail to: jholdaway@... Guest guest
Humor me. Get it checked. Nail it down. If it's neuro, who k nows, coupla B-complex might fix ya up. If it's Raynaud's, then we can both sit here looking dumb, cuz I am clueless. If I can keep them warm, I'm ok. Once they get cold I have to go HEA T them up in water or stick my toes/fingers in the heater vents of the car. Good thing I'm not too tall, huh? You know how I am. LOL! Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
The only other one I've met was ultra skinny, always had been. In 10 yrs, you make #3. But, I suspect my older son (33) is showing signs. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc.
