Guest guest
> I have done the intro diet now for 5 days. After eating a meal (chicken and overcooked carrots), I will have a BM after 5 hours. My BM consists of a lot of undigested food... chopped up carrots. Is this normal? It happens. Switch vegetables to zucchini and/or spinach and actually puree it like baby food before you eat it in a cuisinart. Not everyone can handle carrots initially. Start adding in other food as well since intro is only supposed to last, at most, 5 days. Good luck. Mara

In general, undigested food in the stool means you may not be tolerating the food in question. What kind of carrots did you use? We've found, in the past, that the so-called baby carrots, which may be larger carrots cut down to size, may not agree with people no matter how long they are cooked. Although carrots are on the intro diet, some people (like me!) find they don't tolerate them, and have to substitute another vegetable. In my case, this was peeled, steamed zucchini. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Carrots always went through me- still looking like carrots, even before I ever had to be on SCD. I did really well with well baked acorn squash in the beginning. Very good with butter, olive oil, and a little honey on it. Spinach did the same thing- until I pureed it and mixed it into an egg soufle. In the beginning sometimes a vegetable or fruit is better tolerated well cooked, peeled, deseeded, and pureed.
