Guest guest
Hi Fancesca,I'm not a moderator, so hopefully someone more experienced will chime in too.Intro is 2-5 days, 5 days is really the max since you are on such a restricted diet at that time. After that I'd say make sure you are tolerating the foods from your current stage well before moving onto the next. You'll want to make sure you are improving on the foods you are currently eating, certainly make sure you aren't feeling worse before moving onto the next stage. When to move to the next stage really depends on you and your body. Take nut butters for instance, they are a stage two food and some people here start nut butters at two months and some at six months or longer even. I'd say once you get off intro start adding in foods from stage one, once you feel comfortable that you are avoid set backs with most of those foods try slowing adding in items in stage two. Add each item one by one and try to give about two days in between trying new foods to make sure you can isolate any reactions. Keeping a food diary helps with that too. Hope this helps. I remember when I started on SCD I wanted a much more definitive answer on when to move to each stage as well. But now I realize we are all on SCD for so many different reasons it'd be so hard to pin point when it's time to move to a new stage based on symptoms because all of us are so different. I think the key is listening to your body, and move slow enough that you can see when things change and why. Good luck!~CD - SCD 02/2010 Can anybody help me with this please? Guest guest
Hi Francesca, The idea is that you start with the intro and then gradually add the foods from stage one- keeping a food diary as you try each food and making sure you are able to tolerate them. If you are still feeling good as you are eating all of the foods from stage 1, then you can start trying foods from stage 2. Everybody is different and you have to move through the stages when you feel you are ready. Some people might progress to stage 4 within a year, while others (like me may only be eating stage 2 foods. Did you just start the diet? What foods are you able to eat? -Joanna SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992, 30mg Prednisone > > > > Hello everyone! > > How long do you stay on each stage? > > > > Thanks! > > >
Guest guest
And just to further the example that we are all different in what we can eat and which stages we can tolerate it in, carrots are one of my handful of rock-bottom foods I can eat at my sickest, whereas I still don't have broccoli! I was eating broccoli by my third month on SCD (the Infamous beef and broccoli pie being how) and people were gasping over my being able to eat broccoli so soon. But I didn't tolerate intro carrots until I'd been SCD around 10 months or more. — Marilyn
