Guest guest
Hello everyone. This weekend I felt like I was very constipated on my way out of town for a weekend trip. I mention this because events of the weekend may have caused it to be worse, not been the root of the problem, I don't know. When I ate, I had on tight shorts and had to unbutton them as I felt like my stomach got huge all of the sudden, but it was a normal meal for me. I had stomach and bowel pain that I associate with being a bit constipated. Anyway, I took a stool softener and did indeed go to the bathroom. I am wondering if some vitamin supplements I've been taking about 30 days (Juice Plus chewables-half normal dose) may be giving me too much fiber and acting like a bulking agent and not a good idea for GPB folks. Anyway, I definitely over ate for the rest of the weekend - tons of peanuts and other food. I didn't totally overdue it, but did somewhat. I am wondering if over eating can cause horrible pain and gas/burping and that maybe this fiber I've been taking in the JP has made it harder for me to have smooth bowel movements and if that's the cause of the pain. I feel like I'm giving slow, painful birth to a rock alien and my stomach is huge, although I've not put on any significant weight over the past few days. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.
Guest guest
No advice, but I am definitely waiting to see what kind of answers you get. I have experienced pain like this a few times also. It eventually goes away, but it is nasty while it is here. I don't take those Juice pills you mentioned, so it can't be that. I wondered if it could possibly be kidney stones that eventually pass. I even thought maybe it was a reaction to too much Splenda. I too, think it feels like giving birth, as it comes in waves, like bad spasms. I had it a couple of weeks ago, and almost went to the emergency room in the middle of the night, but it finally eased up and I held out. It lasted about a week to a week and a half this last time. Guest guest
I know what is described is what I experienced with " fibercon. " Supplemented fiber gives me gas and bloating. Hard stools hurt like hell. Stool softeners help with that. That being said, does anyone know the meaning of pale stools. Is it something to be concerned about. I just have returned home from ten days in the hospital for surgery for my THIRD bowel obstruction. I had my RNY 03/27/02 and my first bowel obstruction three weeks later, the second in March of 2003 and I just had my third. All of the obstructions were the result of an internal hernia that could not be seen/felt from the outside and my bowel got caught inside of the hernia then telescoped inside itself till it finally looped around itself in its entirety. The pain was going on intermittently in waves for more than a month. I went to my doc and was undergoing tests for gallbladder, pancreas, liver, etc. My surgical group has 2 surgeons and I unfortunately, a month ago, saw the one I don't like who insisted I had an ulcer. He only ordered an upper GI instead of an upper GI w/a small bowel series. Had that been ordered, while it could not have shown conclusively the bowel obstruction, it would have shown a definite delay in the flow of the barium and it would have alerted them to the problem. As a result, my body completely deteriorated in that time. My own doctors/surgeons have told me I'm lucky to be alive right now. PLEASE call your doctor. I'm not inferring that you have a bowel obstruction, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
