Guest guest
Hi Yes nut/seed butters are helpful will blender walnut/date/olive oil(tiny) sometimes with enxyme for fats expec(ran out again). and blender has broken also and food processor clip caregiver for mother lost. so just chew well now. Avo/walnut/.... smoothies. just look in fridge..Tried coconut milk and water also. I just try to find a sugar with a fat and protein to slow it down. Cant do fruit juices, blender(strain) or juice greens/vegies(lettuce,carrot,cucmber,pepermint,celery...) helps with energy! > > Hi Kim, > ] > I hear you loud and clear about dealing with multi system problems and staying afloat. I've been doing that a long while, my latest addition is the UC. I don't tolerate fat hardly at all... so I'm still scratching my head as to how this will play out. But my books came so I'll be delving in and learning. Somehow, I'll put a game plan together and see how it goes. After all, I have to come up with something. I'm going to try to make the homemade yogurt, something I've never done either, so this should be interesting. When I get to that point I'll let the group know. might be good for a laugh! > > For the hypoglycemia, I've managed like you with nut butter, I alternate peanut butter, almond butter and cashew butter mostly, because those are the ones I prefer the most. Eggs are good too, but like everything else I have to do a few day rotation. Nut butters (nuts) in general are amazing in helping the hypo with all that protein. > > I'm not sure about the veggies yet as far as the UC. I've always " thought " I did alright with them but now of course I'm looking at things differently so we'll see. Fruit (fresh) I love but has not liked me for a long time. I do have a little sometimes but generally speaking it bloats me up and the rest is not pleasant. But I think (time will tell) I can use the fruit and juices in recipes rather than raw and handle that better. This will be interesting. I think my salvation might really be making muffins and breads of some type with the nut flours..to sort of take the place of the complex carbs. Yes patience is the name of the game isn't it? BTW, I dilute my fruit juice too! I'm handling this cautiously because I really have to. > > Duckie > IBS 20 yrs > UC dx 3 months/ 1 year active > > Duckie > > I'm experimenting with snacks at 8 to 9 pm that will make it difficult to fall asleep, won't add extra weight gain, and yet prevent a hypoglycemic episode at 3 am. Some nights I'm more successful than others, so I'm still fine-tuning the types of snack and how much. > > I'm finding out that a higher-fat and protein item like a spoonful of peanut butter, or a hard-boiled egg is fairly successful as my evening snack. I don't do so well with veggies, or a few pieces of dried fruit, or a glass of diluted fruit juice. I usually have my magnesium supplement about 8:30 pm, too (since it makes me sleepy), so I'm wondering if there's a conflict there. I'll continue to experiment. > > It can be tricky, dealing with various health issues and symptoms, trying to find a middle ground that doesn't aggravate something while it's helping another symptom. I'll eventually figure things out. Just have to be patient and persevere. > > Kim M. > SCD 5 years > > >>>>>>>>>>> > Do you eat protein and " whatever " before you go to sleep to > help you not crash with your blood sugar in the morning? One boat I don't want to rock, but the UC > is rocking it! Careful is the name of the game for sure. > > Heal well, > > Duckie > IBS 20 yrs > UC dx 3 months/ 1 year active >
