Guest guest
maybe changing your destiny in the idea that you can bite into a sandwich or bagel ) i don't put much stock into it altering some " life plan " ...but it will drastically effect the way you eat and breathe (and possibly look) now and in the future. it may even give you a better quality of life later on! so if that's destiny changing - i say go for it ) just my two cents... -becky
Guest guest
, My surgeon and my ortho both said the same thing. So far, I can't say my life has changed dramatically, though I did have a career change (I'm not a career oriented person so I don't put much weight on this). I did quit smoking (this is a good thing!). I bought a cat (I was a dog person, and cats just hated me, but now it's a joyful day everyday). I noticed a better response from strangers. Probably being able to greet them with a visible smile makes a significant difference. My attitude is the same, but the exteriors are different, at least, that's how I see it It's funny because every time people are told their future will change, they immediately assume it's for the worst, or that their lucky road will end. They don't envision carrying their own luck somewhere else... Ray
Guest guest
Hi ! Hope this gets to you before surgery. I am 8 days post-op today. I had upper and lower on June 24th and am recovering very nicely. Its not easy to hear other people's opinions about what you are about to do. Especially when it is such a personal and intense choice to make. I thought about what your insensitive workmate said about the Chinese take on surgery. Perhaps it is true. However, I truly believe that everytime you make any choice your destiny is altered. I hope I'm not getting too esoteric if I venture to say that destiny (IMHO) is based on individual choices that people make. You are making a change in your life. And that is okay. This is a difficult but well thought out decision that you have made based on the all of the information available to you. You are creating your life. Good luck , Fay > Hi everyone, > > I am having my upper, lower, genio surgery tomorrow and last night at > work a workmate was telling me that by changing your face I will be > changing my destiny. Guest guest
Thanks for the encouraging comments. I have 5 hours to go before I go to the hospital and am feeling very positive. I look forward to a speedy recovery with you guys. Best wishes to everyone who has already started the healing process and I will see you on the other side! . > > Hi everyone, > > > > I am having my upper, lower, genio surgery tomorrow and last night > at > > work a workmate was telling me that by changing your face I will be > > changing my destiny. Guest guest
, Personally I am of the frame of mind that one's destiny is a combination of already being mapped out for you and of you making one that you want for yourself. For example, without doing the surgery you might have been destined to suffering worse and worse jaw pain or feeling always insecure about how your teeth/bite/chin looks. By having the surgery you are ensuring that your destiny is a happier one where you are free from pain and where you are confident about the way you look. Changing destiny in this way is not bad at all in my mind. Why be miserable when you have the possibility to be happy? I'm hoping your colleague didn't mean any harm by her comment. Maybe she was just trying to make conversation and it came out the wrong way. People who do not have to go through with this surgery sometimes are at a loss at how to deal around those of us who do. And in terms of sayings another common one is " Your destiny is what you make of it, " or " Take your destiny and do what you will with it " . SO you see, for every proverb there is another one that contradicts it. The important thing is that you are doing this surgery for yourself and on your own terms and not to make any one else happy but yourself. Good luck with the surgery! Guest guest
Piffle, methinks. You change your destiny every time you put on makeup? That is, if you're one who uses lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, orther cosmetics? Not something to worry about, and why would anyone suggest stuff like that. Unless, maybe, your colleague believed it would be encouraging to you. Your destiny is what you make of it. I've known people who suffered grievous injuries with great deformities resulting, who turned out to be strong, able, admirable folks. I've known people who were " born beautiful " and never deviated from that path, but who were dumb as stumps and made terrible decisions that crushed their futures. 'Nuf said? And why in the heck should your aching and disabled jawbones deprive your body of the nourishment and good nutrition it needs (if such is the case) just to preserve the genetic directions nature gave you? I believe we have the gift to learn how to fix things that go astray, when need be. Family and friends of others have said worse, though. Small consolation in that. Generally, worthy of ignoring. IMHO. C. > Hi everyone, > > I am having my upper, lower, genio surgery tomorrow and last night at > work a workmate was telling me that by changing your face I will be > changing my destiny.
