Guest guest
Wow Diane I know it must really seem like a long time between now and the 21st. I see my OS on the 1st of July, and my OD on the 8th. Teeth should hopefully be starting to move. I'm sorry, I have know idea what you're talking about when you mention a BSSO setback and a Lefort I. I really haven't asked my OS about terminology (and he really hasn't used any with me so far). And you're welcome to " vent " anytime. It's a difficult process for all of us. I have about a year before my surgery. Once my teeth are in place I pretty much get to choose when my surgery is. They'll put my teeth in a " holding pattern, " not tightening or changing the wires until that time. So I'm shooting for about this time next year as in beginning of June or so. I got out my 2nd bicuspids on top and 1st bicuspids on bottom. So they're the third teeth from the back on top and the fourth teeth from the back on the bottom, both sides: four teeth in all. Hang in there! Hope you'll keep in touch too Is your picture posted on here?... ~Joanne > > > Well, Joanne, I'm doing the waiting game - I go into the OD on the > 21st > > to hear his treatment plan for me, and then I have to wait four > weeks > > until July 18th for my Orthognathic Surgery consult with my OMS, > Dr. > > . Guest guest
Hello Joanne - A while back I was doing a web search for info about Orthognathic Surgery and found a site that contains " An Orthognathic Glossary of Terms " that has been really helpful: the web address is: http://www.5starhealth.com/dentistry/orthognathic/glossary.htm . Yes, the waiting is hard; I need to learn some patience. A BSSO is the surgery performed on the lower jaw and can be an advancement or a set-back. A LeFort I is the procedure done on the upper jaw. As for pictures, I haven't posted any yet; I don't own a digital camera but I may ask my friends who live next door to take some pictures and then download them onto the Photos section of this site. I'd like to get a picture of me taken prior to braces and one after I get them on, and then one taken every so often to chronicle all this - I think that would be fun to see the changes. Have you posted any pictures? How are your extraction sites doing? Are you eating solid food? Let me know how it's going. ~~~ Diane > > > Well, Joanne, I'm doing the waiting game - I go into the OD on > the > > 21st > > > to hear his treatment plan for me, and then I have to wait four > > weeks > > > until July 18th for my Orthognathic Surgery consult with my OMS, > > Dr. > > > . Guest guest
Hi Diane, Am heading to the mts in PA this afternoon and will be up there til Sat. Our friends have a place up there. It'll be nice to get away for awhile. Thanx for the definitions. I don't have a digital camera. Eckerd can give me pictures on a CD and that's something I can do. We'll have to see about that! My extraction sites are almost entirely healed now. I got wires added to my braces, and that still hurts some. Am eating a little better, but still staying away from chewy, crunchy stuff. Have a great week! Do you have lots of stuff to keep your mind occupied thru all of this? It's times like this I thank God that I have such a busy schedule, or it'd probably be harder, I don't know. ~Joanne > Hello Joanne - A while back I was doing a web search for info about > Orthognathic Surgery and found a site that contains " An Orthognathic > Glossary of Terms " that has been really helpful: the web address is: > http://www.5starhealth.com/dentistry/orthognathic/glossary.htm . > Yes, the waiting is hard; I need to learn some patience.
