Jackie Greg & cars [1 Attachment] Greg, that is just terrific! I'm so happy for you. I hope that this remission lasts longer than forever. I know that your life will be getting busier & fuller, but I hope that you'll remember your sarc family & stay in touch. I've been in remission for 3+ years & if I had been able to return to work, I don't know if I would have been able (or willing) to stay with the group. One of the great things about this group is the wide variety of personalities, experiences, cultures, etc. that are represented. Each member is unique & has something unique to contribute, whether seeking info or support, in active disease mode, or in remission. My dad was a mechanic for most of his adult life--first working on his own cars, then with his brother on their "jalopy," which is what they called their race cars in the 50's. Later he made his living as a mechanic. He had little formal training, although I ran across a couple of certificates from transmission schools once. He had to drop out of school early in the 9th grade to help support his family in the Great Depression. I suspect if his IQ had ever been tested, it would have been high, but his lack of education held him back. I always loved the smell of the garage--still do! I'll send a photo of one of his jalopies, the night before a race & then right after. My dad (the driver) is on the right, his brother Gene on the left. This was in Tucson, Arizona. They raced with a couple of guys who later ran in the Indy 500--Roger McCluskey & Bill Cheeseborg. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine.
