My son had this same thing during his 1st week in his helmet.  I called CT to see what it was and they said probably a yeast infection and to take him to the pediatrician and keep the helmet off during the weekend and come in on Monday.  The pediatrician said it was either a yeast or bacterial infection so he had us buy Lotrimin and gave us a prescription cream to put on the oozing spots.  It did clear up after a few days and he could put his helmet back on without any future problems.

It's right in the middle of her forehead, too! Why is the helmet doing this? She had a spot at the back of her head and the orthotist made some adjustments on Friday and then today when we took the helmet off she had a BIG welt on her forehead. And there was a bunch of gooey yellow disharge in her helmet. It's been 4 hours and the spot on her head still looks the same. I'm not putting it back on until I get this fixed, but what could it be from? I don't want this to leave any permanent mark on her forehead--that's what I'm really worried about! I'm starting to wonder if the helmet is doing more harm than good and just about to give up completely. Our orthotist is out of town for the week so I'm going to try and get her to see someone else tommorrow, but I'm wondering if they (our normal orthotist of the other one at the office) know what they're doing. She's only had the helmet for less than 2 weeks and has already had this happen twice. Red spots seem normal, but welts and discharge? That isn't normal, is it?
