Guest guest
Is anyone else in this situation? We graduated from the bands (we have twins) almost 2 months ago already and their head shapes are great. But with our daughter we are still dealing with the tilt, it is really not improving much. She goes to PT once a week and we do stretching and exercises at home. They did some taping of her shoulder this week which did seem to help. I'm not really comfortable going to a chiropractor, which I know many people have suggested to me. Jsut wondering what you are doing if you still have a stubborn tilt to deal with after the helmet is off.
Guest guest
Hi, My daughter didn't have tort, but I've been on this site for several years now as a moderator, so know your problem is not uncommon. Even if the baby seems to be cured of the tort, it can reappear when milestones such as walking come along. I think tort can be a long battle and you just have to keep up with the stretches and PT. Are you happy with the PT provider? You could consider trying someone else if you think that is part of the problem. I know what you mean about chiros. I am a bit skeptical of them in general, but I have heard from many happy parents. -christine sydney, 4 yrs, starband grad > > Is anyone else in this situation? Guest guest
It is a long battle with little regressions along the way. Even though there is still a tilt, is she improving? How much of a tilt is there and does she have full range of motion yet? Just because they can rotate fully doesn't mean they will. If they can't and range of motion is still severely limited there are surgical options. Personally I'd try a different PT and a pediatric chiropractor before surgery. We had to go the surgical route with Elaine. Even after 6 months of PT three times a week and follow up at home, you couldn't even force her head into a full range of motion. (Force isn't the right word... but not only couldn't she do it, but the PT couldn't do it for her.) She had a very bad case and PT did help a lot, but not enough. At this point she's been out of PT more than 6 months and I notice a tilt now and then. We still incorporate stretching and strengthening into play wrestling daily and she's over 20 months now.
