Guest guest
I had my TT and hernia repair last year. Since I have a rather large mesh sheet in there since then, I think that I may be different than someone who just had a TT. I tried to do situps, but had some problems. I continued to try through out the year, but it hasn't gotten 100% better. I can do them, but usually end up " itching " under the upper end of my mesh. I found that walking and holding my tummy in has helped strenthen my muscles close to or as well as sit ups. YMMV! Reba > I would be interested in hearing from those of you who have had tummy tucks and then went on to do sit-ups to strengthen your tummy. Did you have any difficulty or did you find you had to modify your situps or exercises at all? I sometimes end up with major " charlie horse " type feeling to the right of my surgery scar when I try to do situps. Is this common? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice. > > I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who responded to my diet soda question. I am keeping an eye on things right now and will keep everyone informed if I do end up being diagnosed with an ulcer, acid reflux or fistula. Thanks again people, you are the greatest. > > Rinn > >
Guest guest
I had my Origional TT and hernia repair Oct of 02. I had a 2nd hernia repair in July of 03. I can do sit-ups but find that it makes the abs really buldge out. Not very attractive. I guess it is where they plicated the muscles. The exercise is still a little ouchy when I get to my 3rd rep or so. I've never pushed it past that point. I don't really want to build these muscles very much because of the buldge. Guest guest
ok, you have my attention. What do you mean, your abs bulge? when I do crunches or lift my legs up for pilates, I have a bulge right there in the middle also. I don't think it's a hernia. I have had those before. So, explain some more, please. Chrissie Re: Sit-ups I had my Origional TT and hernia repair Oct of 02. I had a 2nd hernia repair in July of 03. Guest guest
When the doc did my surgery, he plicated the muscles in my abd. This is like a french seam on a pair of jeans. Kind of a double fold. I think this is why those muscles bulge when they are flexed. I sure don't want to encourage this bulging, it looks yucky.
