I am wondering if you have made chicken soup in a microwave. Does it work? Is the chicken rubbery? of course, what to cook it in- traveling by plane w glass bowl not likely to happen-- so what to cook it in is a question. Check with the hotel and find out if you can borrow a suitable container. Worst they can do is say, " No. " Alternative is to do what I did while staying at the Alpine Center in Lake Louise: they had a kitchen (fully equipped, they said, like they had any idea of an SCD cook hitting the place!). I hit a store in Banff, bought a few inexpensive items, and then donated them to the Center's kitchen when I left. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
One option may be to buy an inexpensive crock pot to make the soup. I've seen them for under $20. Then you can just leave it there. Guest guest
PJ, What a great idea. that would be actually simplest. And can readily find a place to donate after. Alyssa, Thank you for your suggestion. I did in fact do exactly as you suggested. I made and froze five containers-- and some SCD baked goods. That will help a lot-- but not enough for ten days. We are gone for ten days. Travel food! An on-going SCD topic. Esp when flying. Luckily, I can eat raw fruit, so a container of 'soup chicken' and a lovely apple were likely yummier than anything other folks were buying in the airport. Tho certain items...... but they'd really make me sick, so I could pass. Thank you and thank you Marilyn, for suggestions!
