Guest guest
I had a CTscan earlier this summer that revealed a hernia with bowel in it. The hernia has started to bother me a bit. Nothing major. In addition I have a large ovarian cyst and fibroid. Originally I was supposed to get everything fixed at once. Then because of a pelvic ultra sound and what my ovarian cyst looked like, a gynecological oncologist was brought in as a consultant. He said that the chances of my cyst being cancerous are " small " but he will be there just in case. Surgery is scheduled for Sept 16. Tuesday I found a message on my answering machine from my surgeon (Weight Loss) saying that I should wait until I am totally healed from my hysterectomy and then schedule my hernia repair. This seems ridiculous to me. I cannot afford to take more time off from work for one thing. So that means I would have to wait until next summer. My other concern is whether this hernia repair can really wait. Initially when I had the CTscan done and the results came back it was the hernia that had my primary care doctor the most concerned. I am interested in anyone else's feedback on this. In some ways not having to worry about the hernia repair will make the healing much easier. (I won't have as long an incision) . I am just getting the feeling that my surgeon is just not available on the date the hysterectomy is scheduled. Guest guest
I've never had this done, , but the gals I know who've had hernia repairs with other gyn surgery had it done all at once. I would have it done all at once if the surgeons doing it are confident and have a plan that seems reasonable to you. Surgery is so much safer, faster, and easier to recover from when we're normal-sized, and I think sometimes the bariatric surgeons might forget that. Good luck and I hope it goes well on 09/16.
