Dear Sassy,

I survived multiple surgeries. I turned 50 in October, 2005, had top and

bottom jaw surgery (split palate, widened and brought forward) on 10//26/04

and bone grafts in my top jaw area. I did get a jaw infection on my right

side on week four post surgical. I had liposuction on my chin on Jan 6,

2005 and new surgical cuts on the low jaw inside scars as they healed

strange. Then 4/14/05 I had genioplasty on my chin & Restyland injections

in my top lip and within the next 6 weeks will have a final genioplasty. I

have multiple autoimmune illnesses with Lupus being the primary, and I've

done extremely well.

Feel free to write to me anytime. My best advice is to educate yourself

fully, follow this support group, but rely on your Dr. for consultations. I

also purchased the Zip n Squeeze products for post surgical.

I still have a lot of numbness and yes I bruised from my eyes to my mid neck

region. No bruising from the liposuction.

My Dr.'s told me to talk and talk and talk, so I did. Very robotic speaking

with wired jaws, but it helps the swelling go down much quicker. 5 days

after my surgery, wired shut and quite bruised I went trick or treating with

my grandson... my neighbors did not recognize me and offered, " great mask " .

The miracle of this journey is that I have a real bite after 50 years of a

horrid underbite. I'm almost at the end of this 4 year long adventure.

I look better and yes, I still have to be careful of what I'm biting... but

life is good:)
