Guest guest
Greetings from Boise! Well, it looks like I'll be getting my braces put on real-l-ly soon - probably sometime in early July! I went to the OD this afternoon - what a nice (young) man! He did a brief exam of my jaws, teeth, and TMJ. He says I have a 5 mm jet, and my OMS will need to set back my mandible 7 mm. He also says I will only need pre-op ortho for twelve months and post-op ortho for up to another six months. He's as enthusiastic as I am about all this! He's not sure that I will need the LeFort I done at all; he thinks my OMS will only need to do the BSSO. He says my jaw joint looks healthy (on the panoramic xray). He had me open and close my mouth numerous times as he felt the joint articulate - it made lots of loud grinding noises and my jaw began to hurt. He says he will put on ceramic brackets on the top and bottom, but he might have a problem getting them to adhere to two porcelain crowns I have on the bottom front. He also thinks that he will not need to utilize the space provided by extracted tooth #K, so I will need to have an implant there; no additional extractions will be necessary. I have a space between my two upper front teeth that he will close and use that space to move the other teeth.// The quote for the " records " (the xrays, pictures, and the molds) is $284 - I will have that done on Tuesday morning. The quote for the orthodontic treatment is $5080 - his office gave me several payment options, including a 6% discount for paying the total with cash/check and a 4% discount for paying the total with credit card.//I feel at ease with all this, and my OD seems very nice and explains things well, so I guess I will be in braces soon and will be getting my surgery done next summer. WOW!!// Thanks for your support and all the knowledge I am gaining each time I visit this site.---- Diane
