Holly,

Betaine dosages vary from person to person.

When did you start?

What you may want to do is eat like a few bites of your meal and take some and

see how you feel.

You can gradually increase the dosage, thing is if you take too much it can be

very uncomfortable.

I have low stomach acid too.

meal, and do you take them with every meal? I just started taking one Betaine

HCl with supper (the only meal that I eat meat), and wonder if I would benefit

from more. I've read that your stomach should feel warm. It did the first night

I took it, but it hasn't since then. It certainly doesn't give me heartburn (in

fact, I had heartburn on the 2 nights I didn't take it), so I think it's safe to

say I've been suffering from too low of stomach acid. This is the brand I'm

taking: http://www.nowfoods.com/Products/ProductsAlphabetically/M003463.htm

Jodi, I'd say I started a couple weeks ago. I take it close to the end of my

meal (I read to take it later then that, but am fearful of burning a whole in my

stomach).

, do you just take it with meat, or do you also take it when you eat nut

products? I was also wondering if I should take it with dairy, or if it might

harm the probiotics in the yogurt.

Thanks guys!

Holly

Holly,

I take a small amount after a few nice bites of protein and then I take the rest

of the capsule twds the end of my meal. Seems to work for me- I am not saying

you should do this.

Digestive enzymes don't do much for me besides changing the actual color of my

poop. I find that the Betaine totally changes the consistency.

Many probiotics are acid loving so I would not worry about that at all.

I take my various supplements sort of spread out during my meals,

including HCl. I definitely would not want to take it before I eat or a

half hour after. I figure the stomach should be producing HCl as we

eat. I may be wrong on that.

I only take it with meals with meat, yes. If/when I feel I can have

cheese again, I would probably take it then, too. I don't seem to need it

with nut butter, perhaps because nuts also have fats and some carbs in

them. But it's possible it might help others. That's a good

question about the HCl interfering with yogurt, and I'm sorry, I don't

know the answer on that one.
