Guest guest
Hi Diane, Congrats on the loss so far! I don't really know the answer to your question, but I'm willing to take an UNeducated guess. All things being equal - which we all know they aren't - you maintain a given weight when your caloric intake (absorption) matches your energy expenditure. Maybe at some point, the combination of your smaller stomach combined with malabsorption and your increased energy level reaches an equilibrium. Barring a complication where you lose too much weight, our bodies adjust to the malabsorption and " learn " to get as much as it needs to survive, which is less than it was before surgery. I would love to know if anyone else has any ideas about this. There's the whole idea about biological set points...a weight that your body remembers and is comfortable maintaining. For many of us, this is a MO weight, so with surgery the hope is to change that set point and maintain at a lower weight. I just don't know all the biological details of how that happens...I'm not sure the medical community knows either. Of course, if they did, that would be a cure for obesity, wouldn't it? -maria At 12:56 PM -0800 11/19/01, jeff_diane37620@... wrote: >Hi everyone! I hope you all are doing great. I feel wonderful. Guest guest
I am so computer illiterate that it is not funny. Is there anyway to set up a calendar within this group so that we could keep track of everyone having surgery. So that we could look at it and remember who is in the hospital when? Is that possible? I would love to have that to look at to remember everyone's dates. Dora in Tennessee Open/Lap RNY 9/20/04 Vanderbilt Hospital
