Guest guest
Hi , I'm 29 and will be having both jaws repositioned in about a year. First of all, don't be afraid to share any concerns you may have with your oral surgeon. He/she should be happy to answer any questions you may have. I've read that girls have finished growing by their late teens (boys at about age 21) so you should be OK. The wiring period can be as long as a number of weeks, everyone is different. Again, don't be afraid to ask your oral surgeon any questions you may have. His/ her goal is to make it as easy of a process as he/she can for you. Good luck w/ everything. ~Joanne > Hi my name is and I am set to have surgery on July the 5th. I > am gonna have both of my jaws repositioned. Guest guest
Hi - My son is 17 and his surgery is scheduled for 7/18. It isn't age, they simply wanted him to be done growing. They determined that by the panaramic x-rays every 6 mths; once they got 3 in a row that were the same, the braces went on, and the process began. We knew it would be necessary from when he was about 12. I can't assist with anything else at this time, since " we " are still pre-op. D > Hi my name is and I am set to have surgery on July the 5th. Guest guest
Hi I assume that if your surgeon decided to go through with the surgery that he checked that you had stopped growing but just in case, ASK HIM when you next see him. As for wiring this is something else only your surgeon can provide a concrete answer to. The length of time can vary from only 5 days to 8 weeks. Also, a surgeon may start off thinking that he/she will wire you for a certain amount of time and then decide to either decrease or increase the amount of time depending on how well your jaw is healing. However long you get wired for I would say that patience is a virtue in all cases. Don't be afraid to keep on asking questions on this message board. To me it has been a great comfort just to know that there are many people out there going through the same stuff that I am going through. Guest guest
Hi . I am having double jaw surgery on June 14th and my 19th birthday is June 15th. So technically I will be 18 when I have the surgery. So no, you are not too young to have this done! ~~ > Hi my name is and I am set to have surgery on July the 5th.
