Guest guest
I went to see an ENT doctor a few months back and he diagnosed me with a severely deviated septum and bigger than the norm turbinates. He recommended that I get operated to straighten the deviated septum and and to laser the turbinates to make them smaller. As I really didn't want to have to have another surgery and because I believe I breathe fine through my nose (I'm just lazy, the space from my open bite is easier to breathe through than through my nose nostrils) I decided to not to do the surgery. My OS agreed with my decision having tested my breathing and seeing that I can breathe fine through my nose. So what the ENT recommended I do instead in preparation for surgery was use a nose inhaler for a month ahead of my surgery. He prescribed to me NASONEX which is made of mometasone furoate monohydrate. The ENT doc told me to use the spray once a day in each nostril for 30 days before surgery. Hopefully this will help prevent any major congestion post- surgery. I will be having upper and potentially lower jaw surgery and will only be banded. Just thought I'd let you guys knows since I saw that a couple of people were worried about congestion. Sara
