Guest guest
Hi Judy, It sounds like you're well prepared for your surgery. V-8 juice should be okay, I don't know why it would be a problem. I drank a lot of yogurt drinks after my previous surgeries. They were also convenient to take around in a cooler whenever I went to work or was out for a few hours. I didn't really like Ensure or Boost either but I did find one that I did like. It's Butter Pecan Boost and tastes just like butter pecan ice cream. It's not as chalky as the others. It was hard to find though and sold out quickly at the only grocery store in our area that had it. My husband found out what day they restock and used to go on that day to buy out their supply. They got to know him well! If you're banded, you might be able to open wide enough to get baby food in. There is a " cookbook " out there to make baby food more palatable. I don't know the name of it right now. My mother has it to prepare for my next surgery. There were some recipes there that were edible. Not something I would normally eat but not too bad when I couldn't eat anything else. I also stocked up on 's Soup at Hand. It comes in a styrofoam container that you put in the microwave and then drink it. It's liquid and has few, if any, chunks. I hope this helps. surgery #6 June 29 > Thanks so much for all the replies, it really helps calm my fears > and answer my questions about what I'll be going through in a week. > This group is an awesome resource! Guest guest
Judy The Ensure is really not that bad, and it does have a lot of nutrients and calories. I drank V8 once I got home from the hospital. Pretty much anything that was liquid I could drink. -- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " rainbow55076 " <jkhmo3@c...> wrote: > Thanks so much for all the replies, it really helps calm my fears > and answer my questions about what I'll be going through in a week. > This group is an awesome resource! Guest guest
Judy, I think that the group as a whole prefers Ensure to Boost. But, you know, you really need to try for yourself to see if your tastebuds like them. They are a great source of nutrition. Maybe you'll luck out and enjoy them! My Surgeon gave me a book pre-op called Dinner Through a Straw. One of the receipes is for Liquid Pizza. It contains V8. So, I think that it's probably okay. I wouldn't suggest trying it as soon as you get home though. You'll want clear liquids first. But, maybe in weeks two or three. Keep asking questions ... here and at your doctor's office. That's the best way to be prepared!
