Guest guest
Hi - I have been constipated my WHOLE life - 50 years! I have FINALLY found the CURE! I have been using it for three years. I get it from my acupuncturist. It is Apricot Seed & Linum Formula 110. It is made by Sun Ten - Chinese Herb Extracts. The Chinese name is Ma Zi Ren Wan. It says " for professional use only " . Each capsule is 500 mg. This is an example of how great this works. I ran out last week and, of course, immediately got constipated the next day. After four days without a bowel movement, I got the pain I always got when I used to be constipated. It starts on the right side by my breast and radiates down my right arm - wierd, I know. Well, yesterday I went and picked up my Apricot seed formula and took two pills at lunch, two pills, at dinner. I woke up at 1:00 a.m. and had to have a bowel movement (not to gross anybody out but...). I dumped so much feces that it stopped up the toilet - I'd say about 1.5 feet worth - and I am only 5'2 " and weigh 120#. Today my pain is gone from my right side. The great part about this herb is that I get NO cramping, gas or discomfort like I used to get whenever I used fiber formulas, laxatives, etc. I SWEAR by this herb and will be taking it to the hospital when I have my whipple, even if I have to sneak taking it. Guest guest
Cecilia, thanks so much for the info. I have terrible problems with constipation and I feel pretty sure that constipation has an impact on my panc pain. I'm going to see if I can find the apricot seed and linum formula over the internet. Guest guest
Some people find that the electrolite drink of pecanbread.com in the recipe section gets things moving. Also, look at the BTVC web site for Elaine's constepation protocall. It works very well. Just do a search for constepation, and it will come up. Meleah Constipation My son started the intro diet 9 days ago. Ate day 1, didn't 2-6, and has been eating well the past couple of days. BUT, he hasn't had a bowel movement since day 1. Anything legal that I can give him in the beginning of the diet to help loosen him up?
Guest guest
This is WAY too long to go without a BM!! You need to do something ASAP.... perhaps glycerin suppositories or a Fleet enema (available OTC at any pharmacy). There is a constipation protocol listed on Elaine's website www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info in the " Knowledge Base " under " C " for constipation, but I think this would not be fast-acting enough to help at this point..... though I still think you ought to get the ingredients and begin incorporating them to avoid this happening in the future. I wish you would have asked us for help with this a long time ago, though..... I would be concerned about a kid going longer than THREE days without pooping, let alone EIGHT days. You may need to give him magnesium sulfate orally (epsom salts).... mixing it for that use according to the package instructions. It doesn't taste great but it usually works within a few hours if you can get them to drink plenty of water with it. A magnesium citrate supplement, taken daily, can help a lot on an ongoing basis. Guest guest
The almond flour muffins from BTVC. You might try using the Electrolyte Drink as well.... some have reported that it greatly helps with alleviating constipation. A magnesium supplement would help, too (mag citrate or oxide have laxative effects). Patti Constipation I'm a newbie and just starting out day one. Constipation is a big problem for me. In the constipation protocol it mentions muffins after the first 2 days. Does anyone know which muffins are being referred to? Thank you! Guest guest
, Colliflower is an advanced food, so I wouldn't be eating that just yet. Some good early stage in healing vegetables would be cooked carrotes, pealed, cook zucchini, green(string) beans, cooked winter squashes like acorn, butternut, or buttercup, spinach, and matbe some pealed, seeded, and cooked tomato. I don't know that the probiotic wouuld be very benefitial if it has not been frigerated for a while. What about trying the homemade 24 hour fermented goat milk yogurt? You can start with the tiniest amount like 1/4, 1/8, or even 1/10 teaspoon. Meleah constipation Hi Sheila! You guys are the best! It is great to get so much support. I am most grateful as there is so much to learn! I think you have a good idea about starting the enzymes as soon as possible to aid in digestion. I will continue with trying the Nuthera and after 2 weeks will introduce enzymes. Just wondering why can't I use a probiotic to ferment the vegetables? My doc told me I could. I am having a hard time finding a legal probiotic in Norway. They also get stopped in toll coming into the country from Germany where I can order legal ones. Then they wouldn't be cold by the time they get to me. Would that make them useless? I am having problems with the diet. I am constipated and afraid that I am eating too much protein. I don't tolerate any fruits it seems so prunes are out. Anything sweet seems to give me yeast problems. I am eating: meats, fish, cooked cauliflower, peeled and seeded and cooked zucchini, cooked string beans, avacado, cooked asparagus, olive oil, coconut oil, and salt. Started the diet Sept 11, 2007. Can you give some tips on new things to try? Thanks! Thanks so much for the invaluable help!
Guest guest
Thanks Meleah! Ok, I will stop the cauliflower. I have been suspicious of that... I thought that I got a reaction when I tried butternut squash, spinach and carrots. I thought maybe it might be due to the sweetness of the yellow veggies and the high oxalates of the spinach. Could I try macadamia nut butter or yogurt? Could I try yogurt made from canned coconut milk (it is organic and doesn't have any additives). Maybe I could try artichokes for another veggie? I would like to try the goat milk yogurt but it is impossible to get goat milk in the city this time of year in Norway. Thanks again! > > , > Colliflower is an advanced food, so I wouldn't be eating that just yet. Guest guest
You could certainly make a nut yogurt instead of the goat. I'm not sure that canned coconut milk is OK for SCD. The ardichoke would be fine for a veggie. I would just look at the " beyond the intro diet " chart on pecanbread.com under the food preparation section to see what vegetables would be in the early stages. Guest guest
I just wanted to say something else here. I was at a family reunion today and a relative mentioned her daughter finally doesn't have constipation. She's 12 or 13 years old and has had it all her life. A chiropractor finally found a pinched nerve and fixed the problem. She finally has relief after 12 years. She also would get headaches due to the constipation. I found it interesting. and once again, I just feel lately that the medical field doesn't have a clue as to how to help people other than pushing meds. Another story I heard this week was that a girl was dizzy and was getting worse and the parents took her to Mayo and they felt she had MS and was going to put her on a ton of drugs. The parents didn't buy into it and took her to a Chicago hospital who found she had a virus and helped her and she was then fine. Just thought I would share. You never know how it could help someone. Marla P. Subject: Re: Was: dizzinessTo: BTVC-SCD Date: Saturday, June 26, 2010, 10:54 PM AMEN - I always feel led too - glad you found that verse! PS how about l-tryptophan or sam-e or 5htp -or l- luceine - just some natural anti-anxiety things to trythe last worked great for my daughter it's as needed and you can just stop when you chill and start up when you feel freaked out etcjust thoughts -good to know too, thanks -also my dd gets headaches every june from allergies - mri's of the brain and all were done till we figured it was allergies - so scary hope she's better soon - oh also, my doc gave me quercetin for allergies eileen 2years 5 months scd> > > >> > > > Hi Marla,> > > > You mentioned that your daughter wears braces and also has a device to help her jaw. Because the muscles in the jaw are significantly intertwined with our necks and upper backs, any change in jaw alignment (via braces or prosthetics) can affect our equilibrium. The inner ear is also closely tied to these muscles. > > > > I have suffered with dizziness for quite awhile, but if I see my physical therapist or chiropractor and do at-home exercises, the dizziness almost always gets better. Just thought you might want a different perspective in case all your daughter's tests come back normal. > > > > > > > > Pam> > > >> > >> >>
Guest guest
Should someone stay on the intro diet for 5 days if they are prone to constipation? If a food causes any gas or pain, should it be stopped and tried again later? I don't have diarrhea, but gut pain and a lot of severe food intolerances which act like anaphylactic reactions. Thanks, June

Yes, just because it's legal does not mean everyone tolerates it. > > I don't have diarrhea, but gut pain and a lot of severe food intolerances which act like anaphylactic reactions. These can settle down after some time on SCD. You will have to tailor it to your needs and stick with foods you do tolerate. Keeping a food diary helps. > PJ >
