Guest guest
I just had the wonderfully painful experience of kidney stones. They went in with a basket and took them out and I got to stay overnight in the hospital to boot! Thanks for letting me get the whine out first. The urologist just removed the stint today and in about 2 weeks he is going to have me do a 24 hour urine collection. When I told him that I take calcium he told me that I could continue for now, but that more than likely the 24 hour urine collection will come back with too much calcium. If that is the case then he said I have to stop taking calcium. I've just got to find the research on this, because I thought that if the calcium was showing up in your urine, then there was a problem with your body stealing calcium and you should take more? Maybe I have that confused with blood levels (good thing I'm not a doctor!) Also, he had me go through about a 2 hour x-ray shoot, as I have so many calcium deposits on my bones that it was hard for him to see exactly where the stones were stuck. So maybe I have too much calcium and he is right? I trust the doctor, I am just concerned about the no calcium thing. If I don't take calcium I get nightly leg/feet cramps that are horrid. My last dexa scan had me at 118% bone mass for an 18 year old female (I'm 42). Joanie Lap RNY 08/13/02 284/
