Guest guest
Matt, what kind of insurance do you have & where do you live? 2 years ago when my mom was getting to the place where she couldn't stay in her own apt. anymore without more help & supervision, I was first told by a home health agency that Medicare wouldn't cover any home care. Then at an Alzheimer's support meeting, I met a home health nurse who said that wasn't true, connected me with an agency, and within a week she had been assessed, qualified & began getting care. She had an aide who came 3x week to help with bathing, housekeeping, reminding her of exercises, taking her out to walk, making sure she was eating, even fixing her meals. She also had an RN that came twice a week at first, then once a week, plus a physical therapist who came twice a week. They also provided one of those help buttons for her to use if she fell. We only used the service for a few weeks because she deteriorated so fast, but it was great. I was in the middle of a move, and between that & my own health issues, going over to Mom's 2-3x/day to make sure she ate, took her meds, etc., was overwhelming. Since home care is much less expensive than institutional care, more states are offering coverage. It's worth checking out; I wouldn't take the word of the hospital or rehab facility. Another case of the patient/caregiver having to do the work. As i try to deal with 's continuing care I keep getting stonewalled. This leads me to a question of how one gets services for their loved one when insurance doesn't seem to want o pay. The care facility is looking to release her to I have no idea where, because she is not strong enough to come home yet. They dumped a list out on me of places I should look at with no indication that insurance will help out. I asked about in home care and was told politely it is not covered. You will pay out of pocket. Any ideas what to try next. I am worried that she will be sent home and no plans in place. Hope all are well as they can be.Matt Subject: medical enemasTo: neurosarcoidosis , " Bettis" , Robosan@..., "June Wittwer" , dfeld@..., " Feldhaus" , "a Hulen" , "Kathy Kirkley" , " and Bagwell" , "Tina Wheeler" Date: Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 11:49 PM A Strange Old Tool Do you know what it is? Look below, read and learn. This old tool has been reintroduced in Washington D.C. By the Obama Administration. It will be part of the New Health Care Program. Are you starting to feel it yet?
