Guest guest
Oh honey, I'm so sorry. That SUCKS! I would be a wreck, too, if I were going through what you are. I wish I had some advice to give you -- I know the others will -- it sounds like you need to get your ortho and surgeon TALKING to each other for starters. You have EVERY right to be pissed and upset! L
Guest guest
Hi Lanie, I'm so sorry this has been so difficult for you. I actually got my upper and lower bicuspids removed (4 teeth in all) and it isn't noticeable. I've felt ugly too in the past, and I'm just looking at all this as something that'll help my appearance as well as the function of my jaw. If people look at you funny, it's their problem, not yours. Remember why you're doing this, and you have such good reason to be proud of yourself for taking this big step! Have you told anyone (friends etc.) what you're doing and why? As for your orthodontist and surgeon, all I can do is encourage you and your parents to ask as many questions as possible. Be sure that you inform one doctor about what the other is saying, especially if the two seem to be saying things that are so different. Sending an e-hug your way, and keep looking forward to all the good that's about to happen! ~Joanne > I am so upset, I'm crying so hard. > > My surgery was cancelled and it looks like they're going to remove my > upper bicuspids so I get to look even more freakish. Guest guest
Lanie I would trust your orthodontist says about the timing for the movement of the teeth. Afterall, that is his specialty. My surgeon said that I would need my braces on for at least 6 months after my surgery, and it looks like I will be getting them off about 10 weeks after surgery. It may seem like forever right now, especially when you come across these road blocks. Trust me...it does get better. Before you know it, you will be recovering from your surgery, and looking back at this day like it was no big deal. Guest guest
Lanie - I'm SO-O sorry to hear about your surgery getting cancelled. Sounds like your OD and OS need to get on the same page about the additional time; there's too much time between a few months and a year. Your OD IS the expert when it's about the braces though. Once the doctors get on the same timeline, then your surgery will be rescheduled. Don't worry about this small setback; you've come all this way and just a few more months will fly right by. Your OD just wants your teeth to look perfect prior to your surgery and maybe your post-surgery ortho won't be very long. Just hang in there, okay? Take care! ~~~ Diane > I am so upset, I'm crying so hard. > > My surgery was cancelled and it looks like they're going to remove my > upper bicuspids so I get to look even more freakish. Guest guest
Lanie, Sorry to hear about the cancellation. I know a year seems a long way away (Lord knows that is what I was thinking) but it honestly comes fast then you will think. I know that is what everyone is saying, but it is the truth. Hang in there and I am sure everything will turn out the way you want it. > > I am so upset, I'm crying so hard. > > > > My surgery was cancelled and it looks like they're going to remove > my > > upper bicuspids so I get to look even more freakish.
