Guest guest
Sara I am a mouth breather, and I had thought that I had finally learned how to breathe through my nose. Once I got my wires cut, and I could open my mouth, I am right back to mouth breathing. I guess old habits die hard. I do find now that it is easier to breathe through my nose, and I only had my lower jaw worked on. Maybe it is psychological. > I asked this question in another post but I think it got lost in all > the other stuff I was going on about so I'll ask it again. > > Does any one else who has less tight elastic bands on and a splint feel > that sometimes they're teeth don't bite down into the right position? Guest guest
Hi Sara, It is Sherry again--I just got my sires off the other day (as you know) and my teeth are not aligned either. In fact they are WAY off!! On the left there i sbasically no contact at thae back at all. I have zero feeling on the right side so cant really comment there. I find the right side is so much tighter (in the TMJ) and I am not sure why. My darling son is sitting here feeding me little pieces of rolos!! yummm...but my lips are so blistered and sore I end up just crying sometimes b/c I an so discouraged and in so much agony. But it wil only get better...at least we can nibble... Take care' Sher > I asked this question in another post but I think it got lost in all > the other stuff I was going on about so I'll ask it again. > > Does any one else who has less tight elastic bands on and a splint feel > that sometimes they're teeth don't bite down into the right position? Guest guest
Sara I had a splint and bands for seven weeks. It was taken out last week. In the first few weeks I definitely was not biting correctly all the time. The first time my surgeon noticed he said it was a muscle spasm and he helped me re-align the bite. After that I was very conscience of the bite position. Sometimes it was hard to tell where my teeth were meant to go becuase of all the numbness and swelling. But soon you will start to get the hang of it and your teeth will fit into that splint as if it wasn't even there. Now with the splint out my bite is where is should be...although I still have another twelve months in braces. I hope this eases your fears a little bit.
