Guest guest
It's normal to feel uneven edges along the lower jaw even if you haven't had surgery. Your body forms scar tissue (called callous formation) around bones that have been cut or broken so you may be feeling some of that as well. It's perfectly normal and to be expected. If your bite is still good and not shifting and you're not having pain, then I wouldn't worry about it. > Hi all, > > I had BSSO(to shorten lower jaw)/Genio/LeForte I done about 2 years > ago. Guest guest
I have that callous formation Minirascal is referring to around one of the bones that broke on my foot. It's actually quite a visible bump on my foot but other than that it causes me no problems so perhaps as Minirascal said, that is what you have. I would however make an appointment with your surgeon to double check it and get his seal of approval that all is fine and dandy. Guest guest
Hi Perhaps it is your plates and screws? My surgeon says 5% of people end up needed to have them removed. I hope you figure this out. Fay > Hi all, > > I had BSSO(to shorten lower jaw)/Genio/LeForte I done about 2 years > ago. Guest guest
Hi Fay, Thanks for the reply. My plates and screws are up on the ramus. It's no where near the bumps so I'm sure they're not the cause. H. > > Hi all, > > > > I had BSSO(to shorten lower jaw)/Genio/LeForte I done about 2 years > > ago. Guest guest
Hi Sara, Thanks for the reply. It could be a callous but I have my doubts, as the bumps feel pretty bony to me. Guest guest
My callous is VERY bony because it's around my bone. I panicked about it too and went to my doctor to get it checked so I would go have your bumps checked. Better be safe than sorry:-) I understand your concern. I would be worried too. Good luck and let us know how it goes! Sara > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > I had BSSO(to shorten lower jaw)/Genio/LeForte I done about 2 > > years > > > > ago. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the reply. I doubt they are scar tissues. They seem pretty bony to me. I took a look at an X-ray taken about a year ago and the bumps were there. Back then they weren't so noticeable. I think they have now gotten bigger. My bite has shifted a little but still okay. I'm not having any pain but it's just asthetically unpleasant. H. > > Hi all, > > > > I had BSSO(to shorten lower jaw)/Genio/LeForte I done about 2 years > > ago.
