Guest guest
So this can cause sleep issues also?? Holly > 1.think of it like very strong cravings. Did you ever crave somthing in the middle of the night when pregnant? I think their cravings for gluten and casein are even stronger than those. Addicts will go to any length to get a fix-an example would be my son licking the fridge for traces of leftover forbidden food. Or if they start eating nonfood items looking for the same feeling they get when eating gluten or casein. > > 2. This question comes up alot-but the general opinion is indefinatly-or untill the gut heals-but no one is sure when that happens exactly. I dont have a DAN doctor right now-because I cant afford one. I reasearch, study and tr things out on my own.But if you can afford it a good DAN doctor could be a great asset. The basic gfcf diet Is nutritionally sound. Fruit ,veggies, meat, beans. The biggest thing your are changing is the grain you use. quinoa is far superior to wheat in nutritional value followed by millet-both gfcf grains. You may run low in EFA,or B vitimins so we suppplement with a good multi every day to be sure. and of course calicium/mag suplementation because of no dairy products. www.gfcfdiet.com also has a link to a dietician -she has answered questions promptly for me via email in the past. > > 3. For us once the gluten and casein had cleared out of his system- reactions were obvious. He lost receptive lanaguage-and would tantrum almost all day-in addition to not sleeping for about three days following an accedent in diet. This for us includes nonfood exposure to gluten-but in out case handeling casein has not affected him {although eating it would.} > > > >
Guest guest
F, thanks so much for your reply. It helps to know that there are so many Parents out there who are willing to help us that are new to this. One more question please, What is a DAN DR? I've heard it mentioned a lot in here. Thanks again, Rhonda in CA Mother to

Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group and congrats on your upcoming surgery. I think there is something in the tea itself that isn't good for us right after surgery. I do know that anything we drink specially tea or coffee should be decaf, at least that's why my nutrientist tells me. I didn't really pay to much attention since I don't drink either...lol. I did drink milk in my protein shakes and some on my oatmeal, but I too am not much of a milk drinker. Good luck and enjoy. Guest guest
i didn't have a psych exam either. i have medical mutual and they didn't require it. i did go through some educational, nutriutional programs but that was through my surgeon not my insurance. seems they are all different. laurette 4/23/04 open rny 309/290/245/150 St. Charity Cleveland, Ohio
Guest guest
Well I am new to this, I am just getting started. I have about 2 months till my surgery. Did any of you think well maybe I will try 1 more diet before you did your surgery? Now I am getting the things done they said I had to do, like stop smoking, give up my diet pepsi, tea, gum. I dont really understand the whole give up tea, it is unsweetened. Can someone explain it to me. Sorry this is so long, I am just full of questions. What do you get to eat right after the surgery? I am worried it will be milk which I hate. Thanks for any advise you can give me....
Guest guest
What they are actually trying to get you to give up is the caffeine. You will have trouble getting enough water in after the surgery as it is. Caffeine tends to dehydrate you. So they don't want the counter effect of the caffeine. Ask them, but I am sure if you switch to decaf tea it would be fine. At least it is with my doctor. And I will have my surgery in a little under two months and I already have the list of what I will be eating. I don't like milk either and they did not tell me that I have to eat it. A lot of soups, jello, popsicles and liquid stuff at first. Protein shakes are very important at that stage to get your protein in. And yes, I thought I would just try again, and again I failed at the diet. But be absolutely sure this is what you want to do before you do it. From everything I have heard it will be one of the hardest things you will ever do.
