Guest guest
You know, there is a product called Darifree, that is potato based. It has no soy, rice, casein, or nuts. It is a powder that you mix with water to make a milk-like drink. Guest guest
We use a product (comes in a powder form and you mix it with water) called Dari-Free. It is potato based, tastes pretty good and has as much calcium as cow's milk. Our local health food store carries it but you can search online if you can't find it locally. > > Dear all, > > My son reacted to soy milk and goat milk. He also is allergic to brown rice. Guest guest
From what I understand, camel's milk has A2 casein as well. All mammal milk has casein, which impairs the neurological system in vulnerable children. > > > From: xiao xu <xh16882003@...> > Subject: Milk substitute > > Date: Wednesday, March 9, 2011, 1:39 AM > > > Â > > > > Dear all, > Â > My son reacted to soy milk and goat milk. Guest guest
They will send you free samples. You have to mix it stronger than what the package suggests, but it is not a tasty milk substitute. It is good for cooking and coffee in my opinion. We use Tempt Hemp Milk (original, vanilla, and chocolate) and it is very tasty to drink when it is cold. It is thick and creamy. It is full of calcium protein, Vitamin D, and omegas. Can't go wrong there. And no, it does not have any THC. Substituting one mammal milk for another will do you no good in healing your child. Some people swear by raw milk because the caseins have not been altered by pasteurization. I still believe casein is casein is casein. BTW, I hear other brands of Hemp Milk taste like dirt, but I do not know. I can only vouche for what we use (and no, I do not work for that company). Hope that helps, > > You know, there is a product called Darifree, that is potato based. It has no > soy, rice, casein, or nuts. It is a powder that you mix with water to make a > milk-like drink. Guest guest
The reason he reacted to goat is because there is a trace of the A2 casein in goat milk. The reason he reacted to soy is because it is similar in make-up to the casein proteins. Almond is probably not recommended because it is one of the top 8 allergens. My kids love the Tempt Chocolate Hemp Milk by Living Harvest. (drink it cold) We have seen a drastic improvement in my son's verbal apraxia (overnight) when we removed dairy from all foods. We will never go back. BTW, my son became allergic to almonds when we substituted almond milk and almond flour for dairy. And I do not recommend Rice Dream, as it is processed with barley g(gluten) and contains the upper limits of 20ppm gluten; though it does not specify this on the package. They get away with it because they do not *add* it in as an ingredient. But it is the only milk I know of that contains gluten. If you are on a GFCF diet, then that brand of Rice Milk is not for you. ....I found rice milk to be watery anyway, if that is any consolation. Try the Tempt Hemp Milk. Larger Krogers in the healthfood section and all Whole Foods carry it. It is on the shelf and you have to refrigerate before drinking (recommeded for best taste, but not mandatory). It stores well on the shelf and does not have to be refrigerated unitl opened. The vanilla is great on GFCF cereals. > > Dear all, > > My son reacted to soy milk and goat milk. Guest guest
I wasn't the one being asked, but I thought I'd chime in: This may sound shocking, but we (many of Dr G's patients/families) pretty much don't bother to supplement calcium. He doesn't believe it's particularly necessary. He does monitor calcium levels, but unless they were to start getting low, there is no need. I think he said they never (or almost never?) get low. He explained why years ago, but I don't remember. What pops up in my subconcious (which I take to mean he may have said) is that our bodies will almost always draw out all the calcium we need.  (Can we even make it if we need it? Can't remember - some we can.) Something about the paradigm on how much calcium is needed not being quite accurate. Plus, we have known calcium channel dysfunctions - there've been kids who when calcium supplementation was dropped, they improved measurabley. I know I heard a minimum of 5 good reasons, and thank goodness because the whole calcium issue kept me stressed, and it turned out he did better without all the stuff I was trying to give. Mainly we give the daily RDA multi-vitamin and that's it. We shoot for a healhier diet - spread out over a week's time trying to hit all the important stuff - but not beating our heads to try to get it all in on one day. Guest guest
Dr. G doesn¹t do Calcium testing for my kid but, we stopped dairy over 4 years ago and never replaced it because my son didn¹t like the replacements (and neither did I) so, we just stopped them all together. I don¹t think he misses it and even my other 2 kids don¹t get much dairy at all either. I don¹t worry about their Calcium levels, but I do worry about their Vitamin D levels.
