Hello! I've been lurking on Graduate-OSSG for 2.5 years now. I'll be 2 years

out from my RNY this October 9, so I thought it high time I post.

His message got me so excited that I had to chime in. I've recently (8 weeks

now) started an exercise protocol called " SuperSlow " weight training. Ten long

seconds up and ten long seconds down until muscle failure. I invested in a

personal trainer and I can really feel the results (although I can't see them

yet).

I got excited by 's message because I KNOW this is going to work for me,

you know? You know how you happen upon something and bells and whistles go off

and you feel like you're home? That's how I feel about this. I love it also

because I don't have to do any aerobics -- I get plenty of cardio in my

weightlifting workouts.

I'd been feeling really bummed about my so-called success with my WLS because I

" only " dropped 95lbs -- and then had the nerve to gain 10 back (that dreaded

Butt-Be-Back syndrome!). Shoot - I was so ashamed that I hadn't reached the

promised land of size 8 that I refused to post on any OSSG boards. The shame

ran that deep. While it's not completely gone, I'm working on it. And posting

here is a good start.

Thanks so much for this list. Thanks, , for helping me 'come out'.

I love weight training too (almost as much as I like yoga). I've heard

about the super-slow method - I'm anxious to hear about your progress!

I have to admit though, I'm kind of puzzled about how you're getting cardio

from your weight training, especially if you're doing it slow - can you

explain how that works?

WOW Felissa........I could totally relate to your post. I have always felt

like a WLS failure because I never got " thin " .........I am trying REALLY

hard to accept that I am healthier and thinner.........it is not

easy.....and I am not sure that I will ever be able to really accept it. It

was comforting to know that others are in the same boat~ P.

I suspect that there are a lot of people in the same boat. Although I

have lost quite a bit, I also had a lot to loose. I lost 179 lbs gained

some back and lost some more but I still weigh in at 347 lbs. I know

that I am healthier. I can do things I could not at 479 lbs. I am

blessed that I have knees that hurt because I can still use them. I am

blessed that I can take my own shower, tie my own shoes, do most of my

shopping, and most of all I can actually walk. Don't give up. I still

believe the surgery was worth it.
