Hi, I'm not totally sure what kind of sinus problems you have... but I

know that after my surgery I couldnt breathe out of one nostril and my

doctor told me that I was just swollen. However, the problem persisted

and it turns out that they deviated my septum during the surgery and

ended up having to get a second surgery to fix it. I don't want to

scare you, but it's something to look in to.

Hi, just to join the sinus discussion here: I had upper & lower on 7 May,

and I don't have any real sinus problems from the op, but whenever I

sit down too quickly, or lean forward etc my sinuses just under my eyes

start tingling and feeling really funny. Is this normal or is there

something wrong?

Thanks!

Learn to irrigate your sinuses.

For beakghs, I just wanted to ask you about your sinus problem. Your

septum was deviated during your jaw surgery? The reason I'm asking is

that I just had surgery to correct that problem because I was told I

needed to have that fixed before my jaw surgery. I didn't even think

of the possibility of it being re-deviated. I really don't want to

have to go through that surgery again. Is this a common problem with

upper jaw surgery? I'm hoping it's not too common of a situation.

Hi - I just wanted to chime in here too. My septum was deviated

before my jaw surgeries and my surgeon suggested that I wait to have

it fixed for this very reason. He said that especially when the

upper jaw is being moved, there is always the possibility of nasal

issues arising. Sure enough, now after my jaw surgeries, my nose is

even worse than it was before as a result of the surgeries. Life

just isn't fair sometimes. I am so sick of the surgery scene right

now that I can't even think about my nasal issues yet! :) Good

luck!!!

I went for pre-op yesterday. OS said my sinuses are fine. I must have

developed an allergy to something. Surgery will be June 8th. It was

going to be both upper and lower, but now he decided to do just

lower. My only concern is doing just the lower might not solve

problem but I will trust his judgement. No ortho for me just lower

advancement and fitting teeth back together as best he can to

stabalize the tmj and correct bite.
