Guest guest
I was just thinking about what will happen when I get unwired and was hoping to get some feedback from folks who have been there. I always thought that because the jaw muscles were in the same position for so long I would have to retrain them on how to open properly and then how to move around. While talking about it the other day someone said to me " what if the jaw muscles are so lax that your lower jaw just falls open and you don't have the strength to close it?! " So, of course, now my mind is racing. Thoughts? Opinions? Personal stories? Thanks in advance for your help! Carol
Guest guest
Carol FIrst, I should be getting unwired next week, so I will be sure to let you know how that goes. However, my friend's uncle had a lowere advancement. He was wired for 5 weeks, then tightly banded for 2 more weeks. He said that he couldn't wait to get unwired so he could really eat. To his dismay, he said it was really painfull for the first few days. He said the joint is really stiff, and the muscles don't want to cooperate. He said he would fight to open his jaw, and once he got it open, he couldn't close it. Imagine that, all this time we want to get our mouths open, and then we won't be able to close them!! This is only his experience, so I will be sure to share mine as soon as I get unwired. > I was just thinking about what will happen when I get unwired and was > hoping to get some feedback from folks who have been there. Guest guest
Derrick, Absolutely! I use a heat pack now. It lulls me to sleep. Once I'm unwired (in about 5 1/2 weeks) I'll be sure to continue using it!
