Guest guest
I have seen the issue of yeast overgrowth referenced alot on this list but know very little about it...basically all that I know is that it is a problem. Is this tied in with UC in some way? Do all UC sufferers have it? How do you assess if it is an issue for you and does having it slow down the healing power of SCD? Guest guest
Hi Eileen,When I it was suggested I had a yeast overgrowth, this page about yeast on pecanbread.com was informative for me. http://pecanbread.com/p/how/yeast.html If you are interested in how to manage yeast with diet check out the Candida files in the 'files' section of the website (slightly above 'applications' on the menu at the webstie).~ I have seen the issue of yeast overgrowth referenced alot on this list but know very little about it...basically all that I know is that it is a problem. Guest guest
Eileen Anyone with a digestive disorder ends up dealing with a yeast/candida overgrowth – comes with the territory. Of course people without a digestive disorder often have to deal with yeast as well. Our gut ecology and our immune system normally keep our yeast levels in check, but when problems develop with our gut ecology, then the immune system is often unable to do all the work and the yeast start overpopulating our bodies. Not everyone is affected by a yeast overgrowth in the same way. Some have no symptoms, others are troubled greatly. Time on SCD will deal with the problem, but some of us find we need to adjust our food choices or use an antifungal to help get the yeast levels under control more rapidly. I noticed someone gave you a link to the yeast information on pecanbread.com. The information is also in our group Files, although I need to update the documents. There is also plenty of information on yeast/candida in books and online; just remember to apply SCD “rules” to the recommendations and suggestions you find there. Kim M.
