Guest guest
Hi everyone Please read my post # 90740. I am wondering if and how hard it would be to rebreak jaw and put it back where it was originally. Can they tell where it was positioned originally?? Please help. I think I may have to redo...my top jaw is so crooked. Ortho could only do so much. God i hate to go through that nightmare again. Please beware everyone..The end result could be far worse than you were before. Thanks to the person who replied to original post. Best of luck with your daughters surgery. Guest guest
Dear Lonnierobin I am so sorry to hear about your unfortunate surgery and results. I would say that the best person to ask your questions to would be a new oral surgeon that comes highly recommended and that has experience in dealing with relapse cases. I'm not sure if the jaw bone is different from any other bone in our body but I know that a few years back I broke my foot really bady and when it healed it didn't heal properly. The doctors said that they would have to rebreak it and put in a screw to make sure that the bone healed properly. Since I didn't really want to go through that process and I can still walk and run fine (just can't run for as long as I used to or wear heels for 8 hours straight any more) I decided not to undergo the surgery. However, my guess is that your jaw bone could be reshifted back into a more straight position just as my foot bone could have. But I might be totally wrong! Speak to an oral surgeon. What did your ortho have to say about all of this?? You say: " Please beware everyone..The end result could be far worse than you were before. " I understand that your experience has been terrible but I just wanted to let everyone know that the end result could also be far better than you were before. Some people unfortunately do not have a choice. They need to do surgery or face a life of debilitating pain. I don't mean to come across harsh and it is important that you keep on posting your experiences here, I just don't want people to be totally terrified of doing the surgery. As in all things in life, there are good and bad experiences. Wishing you the best of luck, Sara > Hi everyone Please read my post # 90740. Guest guest
I was originally supposed to have a redo of my upper jaw (lefort I) so my surgeon and I had talked about it at length. The surgery can be redone but it may be a little more complicated because of scar tissue from your previous surgery. However if you only have to have the upper redone, your recovery should be a little easier than having upper and lower done together. It's not actually a break, it's more like a precise cut. You may not have to be wired this time around but, of course, that's up to your surgeon. At the very least, since you've been through jaw surgery before, you'll know exactly what to expect so that makes it a little easier as well. It did for me anyway. Good luck. I hope you don't need anymore surgery after all. > Hi everyone Please read my post # 90740. I am wondering if and how > hard it would be to rebreak jaw and put it back where it was > originally.
