Hello everyone,

After months of scanning everyone's messges I have finally decided I

am close enough to surgery to start chatting. I have some questions

that I wonder if anyone can answer. I have had my braces now for 8

1/2 months and all they need to do before surgery is to align one

tooth on the bottom pre-operatively. They will be putting on a third

spring MOnday, hopefully this one will provide enought room to pull

this stubborn tooth forward so I can have this surgery by September.

Anyway, my surgeon says that they do not wire your jaw shut for

advancement anymore, so are you still restricted to a liquid diet?

If so, for how long? Is it diet just as tolerated? And, what is

this splint I hear everyone talking about? Does it stay in 24 hours

a day, and if so can you eat with it, if not how long does the

surgeon leave it in? So, with just a standard mandibular advancement

how much weight do people generally loose? Can you also not eat

because it is painful? I am sorry I have not said anything about

myself. I just turned 30 in April and I have two small children (2

1/2 and 5 1/2), my surgeon said that I would have to have someone

stay with me for three full weeks because my children are so young

they do not understand mommy does not feel good. Anyone have any

ideas how long I need to take off of work? I appreciate everyone's

replies!!! Hope to hear from everyone soon!
