To Canadians - Insurance Coverage?

Hello,

Just a quick questions to the Canadians on this forum and insurance

coverage.

I have collective insurance from Manulife and I am having a hard time

getting a pre-approval from them before the surgery is done and the

claim forms are sent in. If I agree to follow their process, I will

only find out about my coverage after the surgery has been done.

What has been people's experience in terms of getting coverage for the

absence from work during the recovery period? Anybody can share their

experiences on whether it was covered or not, how many weeks, who was

the insurance company, etc?
