Guest guest
I don't have any words of wisdom for you, just hoping that it helps you to be able to vent to all of us here. Not that you want another surgery, but maybe the OS could do some work on the lower jaw that could help the situation. I had kind of the reverse of you, my lower was thin and he couldn't move it like he wanted to, yet the upper was already cut and moved. So now I still have a slight open bite. I have just come to accept it. My surgery was done to help my sleep apnea primary, and correct bite secondary. So I try to focus on the positive. One word of encouragement--I had pain on one side for about one year after the surgery, it has finally resolved. So maybe yours will subside. Good Luck, keep us posted. a > Had upper, lower, genio on Jan. 17. Guest guest
Hi, Sorry about what you are going through. I'm going through a similar situation. In fact, I decided on my own a week ago to take my rubber bands off myself to see how my jaw would settle or feel like (OD was too busy to see me) So it was good to read your post and know that a dr. told you to try this. It feels much better, however my teeth are off sideways and none of my teeth come together, I'm in a nightmare I can't wake up from too. I only had lower advancement, but I do have the same pain you describe when I wear the front bands and then it got worse when I was told to wear the back ones. I suspect it's because it's pulling my jaw in an unnatural direction. If you want to talk more, email me. I go to the OD and OS next Monday and I'm putting everything in writing to try to get an answer about what they intend to do. this is crazy to walk around with a jaw and teeth out of line after a surgery that was suppose to correct. I knew it was off the minute I got out of surgery, and I've heard every excuse, such as " it's the swelling, the muscles need to adjust " , etc. So far everything is exactly as it was. I'm 8 weeks post op by the way, and little or no swelling, so I think we're done with excuses. Sherri > Had upper, lower, genio on Jan. 17. Guest guest
I'm sorry that I can't offer you any advice, as I'm not familiar with what you are going through. I can, however, offer you my sympathy for all the pain and confusion you are feeling. I hope that your doctors are able to get together and figure out the next course of action so that all you've gone through will not have been for naught. Hang in there ... and don't lose faith!
