Guest guest
It looks like no one actually answered your question. I would say that it depends upon the growth rate. did not outgrow her helmet until some time after she graduated. It closed easily and although it was fitted where it was supposed to be, I could clearly see the extra space in the back of the head, meaning that there was still room for growth. It was easy for me to stick my fingers up the back of the helmet. was 20.5 months old when she graduated so I knew that growth would continue to be slow. I also watched for signs that she was uncomfortable and checked for red spots daily. We continued the helmet for about 5 weeks afterward. I still fit when we quite. It is now 6 months since she graduated and the helmet doesn't fit anymore. I'm not familiar with the Danmar helmet so I'm not sure if it works the same way as the STARband. Although most people would tell you to not continue after graduation, I would think that you would at least see pressure spots if the band were too tight. Once there are red spots or the baby seems to be uncomfortable, I would discontinue the helmet immediately. Is there a way to know if the baby outgrew a helmet?Hi there,we have an appointment on Thursday, when we would have to decide whether it is time to be done with the helmet. At the last appointment our ortho told us to think of being done, so he most likely would be trying to convince us to take the helmet off for good. Although we have been in this second helmet (it is a Danmar one) for 4 months, last couple weeks Aman was down with cold and didn't really grow that much (he is a slow grower too). I think there is still some space to grow in. I feel that the forehead has just started to fill in and for this reason I would like to keep the helmet maybe for another month. On the other hand, since we have been in the helmet for 4 months already, I am concerned that he might be outgrowing the helmet and it might be restricting the brain growth. The helmet is pretty tight, but I cold still shift it up and down and side to side, and we don't see any red pressure spots. What should I be looking for to have an idea whether the helmet has got too small? Thanks.
Guest guest
Thanks, for responding. We saw our ortho and he said that there is enough room, so we are continuing the helmet for another 6 weeks.
