Guest guest
Thanks Annie! That looks like a great market. I hope we have time to check it out. We're only there for 2 days and I think I have a good restaurant picked out for the one dinner we'll have. Got some meatballs, green beans, Larabars and hard boiled eggs to bring with me too. Kathttp://scdkat.com I don't know much about Quebec city restaurants. The Commensal is a vegetarian buffet, you can find lots of salads and other vegetables plate. You may find Western's creamery DCCC in IGA or other big groceries. There is a little farmer market in the old port (http://www.marchevieuxport.com/ google map the adress) Sorry, I'm not so helpful, as I stay at friends places and cook myself when I go there ! Guest guest
Well I am back from Quebec City and wow the restaurants I ended up at had pretty much no SCD-legal options lol. No one even knew what Celiac was. Thankfully all the waitresses were great and very helpful. I had one waitress make me scrambled eggs and bacon in the microwave (yuck, but safer than cooking them on the same surface as crepes/pancakes) and she handled everything with gloves to not get any flour on the food from her hands. At the dinner restaurant, the waitress got me some slow-cooked duck served in duck fat with a vinaigrette salad. Just goes to show even restaurants with absolutely no SCD-legal fare can be safe for us if the staff is patient and want to help. Love when I meet generous people like that! There is a great farmer's market in the city and everything was within walking distance. I think if I go again, I'll get a hotel room with a little kitchenette, get food from the market and cook myself. Really a beautiful city to stay in too. Kathttp://scdkat.com Thanks Annie!
