Nope. Won't work. How do I know? I tried buying regular cottage cheese

and rinsing it to remove the " cream " they put on it.

If you read the ingredients, you'll find that most regular cottage cheese

has all sorts of illegals.

Hi there- do you have a Whole Foods in the Baltimore area? You should talk to

the " cheese guy/girl " and ask them to order you some. That's what I did and they

were happy to try it out.

Best of luck,

Aren’t there Giant Food grocery stores in Baltimore?

I get DCCC at Giant in Virginia. They carry it in the dairy case, right

next to Velveeta, of all things. If you ask one of the stocking clerks

for it, don’t ask for dry curd cottage cheese because they don’t

know the product by that name. Instead ask for Friendship Farmer cheese.

I think there is a picture of the label in our files area, so you could print

that off to show to the clerk.

Are there any Wegmans in Baltimore. They also carry it.

I don’t think your plan to microwave and drain

cottage cheese will work. If you can’t find DCCC, you are better

off to make yogurt, then drain it really well until it is the consistency of

DCCC and use that for any baking you may want to do.

I must have the worst Whole Foods on the planet. I asked

and asked, multiple times, for a special order of DCCC. Everyone said

they would call me when it came in. Never got a call. I called to

check. All clerks said they had ordered it, but it wasn’t delivered.

How can this be a problem only at my store? I keep seeing posts on this

list about getting DCCC special ordered from Whole Foods, no problems.

Well, the last time I was in WF I noticed they are stocking DCCC, but I didn’t

buy any since I have found other sources. Sorry for the rant, but I just

could not believe how bad the customer service was at my WF, especially for the

prices they charge.

Hi,

I live in the DC area and can't find it either but we do have Friendship

Farmer's brand " Farmer's cheese " in many of the stores around here and that

works just as well.

Typically, Whole Foods only carries it during Passover.

I just got off the phone with my WF who have munged up my order.

Do you have a Fresh Market near you? Similar to WF, but smaller. There's

one about 50 miles from me, and they are very good about ordering if I

know I will be in the area.

I just checked with the Westby Dairy Co-op in Wisconsin, and they WILL

ship DCCC, but it has to go next day air during the summer months, which

jacks the price up horridly. In cooler times, they can send it second-day

air, but there's a charge for a cooler. Still, the second-day air

prices don't come (with the cost of the cheese itself) to more than WF if

you're ordering a bunch.

I did speak to a manager after the fourth time of trying to

special order the DCCC. She was very nice, but in the end she was not able to

deliver the special order as I have seen many others on this list do. I was

surprised because WF has a reputation for excellent customer service. I gave

up. I shop there once in a while if I really, really need something, but now

that I have found other sources of DCCC they are missing out on my business for

that as well as any other items I might pick up there while getting the DCCC.

My suggestion is that you put this down in a letter and mail it to

corporate headquarters. They can't fix what they don't know

about.

Heck, I called the manager of a burger place we go to regularly when a

meal was royally screwed up. My primary object was just to express by

lack of appreciation and to let him know so that he could attempt to fix

it, since most people do like you did: vote with their feet.

He thanked me, and said he was sending me a token of

appreciation.

To my shock, what arrived was a $55.00 gift certificate with the wish

that we redo our meal. THis one was MUCH more up to the standards of the

restaurant.

No Fresh Market near me, but that looks like a nice store. I am

in Northern Virginia, so I can get DCCC at Giant Food, Wegmans or WF. In some

ways Wegmans is giving WF a run for their money. They are an upscale grocery

store, but not as pricy as WF.

Just a note for anyone who has to travel to get dry curd cottage cheese

-- the stuff freezes really well, particularly if you are going to be

using it in baking.

I buy a couple of cases at a time and toss it in the freezer. Then take

it out a block at a time and defrost.

Which stores in NoVA are you in? I haven't seen the DCCC here but maybe I'm

looking at the wrong stores (I'm in Arlington & Fairfax most of the time).

I get the Friendship Farm farmer’s cheese at Giant.

I buy it almost every week at the Beacon Mall (Rt. #1 south of andria)

location. It is right next to the Velveeta. I have also seen it at

the andria Commons (Duke St. in andria) store, too.

One time I got Friendship Farm farmer’s cheese at the

Wegmans in Woodbridge. I had to go searching for it, but the store clerk

was able to help me find what I needed. It was in the cheese section, and

it was in a huge package which I divided into smaller sizes for freezing.

My friend, whose son was on SCD, told me she gets her DCCC

(Friendship farmer’s cheese) at the Wegmans in Fairfax. It is on

Monument Drive in Fairfax. From the map, it looks like it is right off Lee

Hwy (Rt 29) near Fair Oaks.

New member here; hope I'm not saying something obvious. I love in

polis, and found DCCC at Whole Foods as Farmer Cheese, right beside

the Marscapone. Then I went to the cheese people at my Amish market,

and the owner ordered 5 pounds for me for $20.00. He says it freezes

well. The Amish market also sells a " Farmer Cheese " that's not dry

curd, so if you ask at a cheese store, make sure you're talking about

the same thing.

DCCC is supposed to have 0 carbs so it's not legal. Maybe you could ask the

store you got it at to get the Friendship Farmer's brand. There is a label you

can use to bring to the store in the group files.

Acid-set cheeses are not SCD legal because the milk was not cultured to

remove the lactose.
