You went through all of that and haven't gained all of your weight back. You

are doing very well. If you want to start losing again, stay here and learn.

Hi ,

Welcome to the group. I am not sure how many are long term but if

they are they will certainly speak up. I am just out 11 day's from

my surgery so I couldn't help you much.

Hugs, in AL.

surgery results on the long run. (5 years or more. That seems to

be the threshold for cancer survivals). I can not find any such long

term research. Why it is not done, I do not know, but it is just

not done. Why some doctors/institutions not considering it

essential and pushing for such research, I can not understand.

I was told not to use ice after 48 hours. I have purchased a rice

filled cloth bag that I warm up in the microwave, and then I place

that on my jaw. The heat increases blood flow to the area, and helps

speed up the healing. That might work better for you than the ice.

As for the numbness, it could be a while. With each passing week, you

should feel that it gets a little better, but it could be a long time

before you get complete feeling back. You may always have a small

patch of numbness. If it is really bothering you, you should talk to

your OS about it.

From what I understand, you can also make one, but I am not that

handy in the sewing department. I found my bag at Bed, Bath, and

Beyond. I would imagine any store like that would have them. You

don't necessarily have to get a rice bag. You can get a hot/cold

pack from any corner drug store, and that would work to. THe rice

just mold to your face really good, so I prefer that.

Hello my name is Ann I am 44 and 26 days post op after having both my

top and bottom jaw done.

I live in the uk in Chessington Surrey.

At the moment I am off fluids and on toddler food! Yesterday I tried

to chew but as my bottlom jaw is still numb this is not easy.

The feeling is starting to come back but more as intense irritating

discomfort. I can open my mouth 1 finger maionly because of the

elastics keeping it shut. Really irritating.

Is there anyone slse living near me?

Ann

Hi June,

Welcome to SCD. Each one of us has to individualize it to our own sensitivities,

so even if eggs are legal, that does not mean you should eat them if you don't

tolerate them. Perhaps in time you will, and many people have tolerated foods

later on on SCD that they did not in the beginning.

I would hold off on almond flour for a while and start building your diet by

adding well cooked, seeded and peeled, fruits and vegetables. You can also after

that add in nut butters as they are tolerated better than nut flours. It is not

a good idea to get into nut flour products too soon.

A good guide is the stages on Pecanbread.com. This is a site for kids with ASD,

and it does not include cow milk products for kids with ASD avoid casein. Those

of us with gut issues can have SCD yogurt and legal cheeses. Since you are

sensitive to dairy, you should get a legal probiotic which I believe can be

found at GI prohealth or Lucy's Kitchen Shop online. There is a section on

pecanbread.com for finding legal supplements and probiotics.

You can add honey at any time as you tolerate it. Too much honey ( too much of

anything ) is not a good idea. Honey is a problem if you are concerned about

yeast.

Hope you feel better soon!

was just diagnosed with Mastocytic enterocolitis. I have too many mast cells in

my intestines which cause me to have anaphylactic reactions to certain

foods(like dairy, eggs, yeast). This is different from IgE mediated allergy.
