Guest guest
Hi , I saw a Dr at the hospital who gave me a shot of something I forgot what it was called to bring my fever down and it worked, so I was allowed home but if it goes up again I must go back in to stay. He said that it's due to the infection spreading despite the antibiotics and that my body is immune to the antibiotics now. Heck roll on Tuesday! My upper lip is very sore and swollen and when the surgeon tried to take a look in my mouth boy did it hurt! His reasponse was " is it that painfull " he also said that when I flinch when he touches me doesn't help because he can't see/feel what's going on inside. So he told me to hold a nurses hand (he even got a male nurse) and for me to squeze his hand instead of flinching and moving away. I nearly broke the poor nurses hand! he told the dr to stop because we both were in too much pain. I have notcied today that there is something not right with my nose apart from hurting like mad everytime I put my head down it hurts even more and feels like there is a lot of pressure there. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi , The fever was driving me mad one minute I was cold the next I was hot but thankfully it has eased now. I was the surgeon that was on call (he was one of the 29 people that " observed " my surgery) he said that he will talk to my maxillofacial surgeon later on today or first thing tomorrow morning and give him an update. And he will let me know what he has to say. He said that he was wondering how I was doing as he hadn't seen me for a few weeks (the on call dr), but he was aware of my " problems " . I'm worried that there is something wrong with my nose, as I also ahd surgery on my nose to lengthen it etc But hopefully it turns out to be nothing, just another thing for me to worry about! My lip was stiched to my gum after surgery to help heal. I'm glad that they didn't/couldn't do the lip revision becuase that would have been even worse. They were going to take a section of my upper lip off because it's too long and when I smile my teeth don't show. But they were unable to do this as I was loosing too much blood in surgery and I became unstable plus the fact that I had been in surgery for 14 hours! I sure would like to know what's up with us LOL I have been on several different antibiotics that changing wasn't an option as i'm on the strongest one's possible with out IV lines. And after having nine of thoose after surgery I sure don't want another one. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Cammie, Funny you should mention that story. Back in the bad old days when I still had my distractors in, Beau said something to my surgeon about me flinching and yelling when he turned the screws. The surgeon replied that if Beau let me squeeze a certain part of his anatomy while he turned the screws he might just understand the kind of pain I was feeling. Beau got the point. > Heck roll on Tuesday! > > > Never heard that one before, , but it sounds like a good all- > purpose swear phrase, all of which are occasionally justified. > > Sorry to hear that the antibiotics aren't doing their stuff for you, > but at least we now have new and improved germ-killers to throw at > the germs we've encouraged to grow hardier. Hope you get a big boost > from some super-special ones. > > I do not understand docs who suggest that their patients not flinch > when they cause pain. Sometimes it cannot be helped. Period. > > There is an old, very old, and rather bawdy story that I'll try to > clean up to make it postable, about the patient who, when so > admonished by a male doc, said: " OK. You just let me figure out what > part of your body to hold while you're working, and I'll squeeze > that instead. " Solved the problem. > > I hope I made that non-naughty enough to pass the standards. But I > think some docs might benefit from such treatment. I am fortunate to > have ones who are more caring and compassionate, and I hope you > will, too. > > Best, > > Cammmie
Guest guest
Judy, Thank you it has been a very rough ride especially the past few months as not only was I facing a major surgery but I was also recovering from a surgery that was unsuccessfull. I also had to try and come to terms with my grandmother's death early this year. She was my rock throughout my life and has left a big hole in my heart. Yes my attitude has got me through everything that I have been through, but I also have a great family and friends to support me. My mum has been fantastic I don't know how she does it. I think that the surgery was harder for her in someways as she felt so helpless and she was teh one that was sat outside the recovery room for 14 hours. She's still very weary when I go out and the famous phrase of her's is BE CAREFULL, mind you don't hurt! I am 12 weeks 3 days post op. Thank you. --------------------------------- Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page
