Guest guest
Hey Fran, My problem was that most of the anti-emetics (anti nausea meds) don't seem to work for me. Phenergan makes my legs twitch and doesn't stop the vomiting. Compazine works ok, but the other side effects make drs not want to give it post op. So, Tigan suppositories were the top of my list along with alternating with Zosyn IV. Each person is so different when it comes to how they respond to meds, kind of an experiment to find out what works for you. I'm very willing to suggest different things to the ER drs because over the years (23----no---damn, I'm too young to have been a nurse that long!) I've seen some things work great and some not work at all, each on different people. I will tell you I tell patients in the ER that I LOVE Versed, I highly recommend it to everyone who needs procedures done. I tell them " I'm about to become your new best friend! " Unfortunately, with the amnesiac effect of the drug, they don't remember me saying that! or me either generally. But hey, that's what the drug---er---medication--is for. LOL Austin says I must be feeling better, I'm getting bossy again! DAMN I LOVE THAT MAN! And that's not just the tylenol talking either! Hugs, Connie
Guest guest
Pardon me stepping in ladies but I also suffered from vomiting and nausea during previous surgeries so made a big point of telling the nurses and doctors pre-orthognathic surgery. I was given Fomatidine (1 tablet the night before surgery and 1 on the morning of surgery) and it worked a treat. No side effects. Just thought I would throw that in for thought. I didnt think anesthesia bothered me but one of my biggest complaints has been nausea so I am going to remember your advise if (God- forbid) I have to go under again..
