Hi

Glad to hear that made it to the other side and that she is now

home recuperating on her own familiar territory. I am VERY SORRY to

hear about her nausea and vomiting however. That is most unpleasant.

I've been through it during previous surgeries and it's enough to put

you off having a surgery ever again, not that it's fun on any day,

but the nausea makes it even worse. Out of curiosity, since she only

started vomiting after two days, was there a particular drink they

gave her that might have spurred the nausea? I ask because I was

given once cranberry juice post-op and that really made me sick and

another time i was given orange juice. same awful result. this time i

made sure i stuck to apple juice. i just can't understand why she

would have gotten sick after two whole days. it seems odd.

as far as concerns your doctor and his less than professional

behaviour towards erin and her predicament. You said that this was

the first time that he's acted rudely or upset you. Before this were

you always satisfied with him? If so then I would hold on saying

anything to him for the moment. Go in to see him for 's next

appointment and see how he behaves. If he is perfectly nice again

then chances are he was having a lousy day and decided (wrongly) to

take it out on . If he's still condescending then you can ask

to step outside for a second and have a few direct harsh words

with him. I would tell him that while you appreciate that he is a

busy man, you also expect that someone from his profession would have

the decency to have some compassion for a child that is obviously in

a lot of pain i.e. . And as a nurse yourself you expect

compassion for a doctor even more because you've provided assistance

to patients on multiple occassions and know how much they require it.

I had a similar experience with my orthodontist post-op. I'd alwasy

been very satisfied with him until my first post-op appointment where

he was positively horrible and negative in general about the surgery

results. He really made me start to wonder why I had gone through

with the surgery. Well, since this behaviour was so out of character

for him I decided to let it go for the time being and see what he was

like during my next visit. Sure enough he was back to being his

pleasant self. Doctors are only human and can have their bad days

too, even though that's no excuse for calling difficult and a

baby. Lord knows she's been through enough and many an adult would

have not dealt with it as well as she did.

Please give a big hug from me and tell her we're all sending her

positive vibes for her recovery.

Sara
