Oh Sherri, there was one thing we forgot to tell you. Once you find us, we never let you go. LOL We are kind of like a piece of gum stuck on your shoe. Once a part of the family, always!!! So, you are here for the duration.

Sherrie, you don't give up or be too hard on yourself. I was 120 pounds when I got sick and now I'm 170. UGHHH I hate to say that!! I know it is from the pred and as I lower it will come off slowly, it did before. I also quit smoking so I'm sure that added a few pounds.

About smoking.... it is hard. Please don't be too hard on yourself. I smoked for a LONG time and never wanted to quit so I never tried. When my throat started feeling bad and I knew I had RP ... it just hit me one day. " You my friend, HAVE to stop this habit!". Didn't know how to start. I went into my PCP and said " I want to stop smoking and need help. Can I use the patch?" He said he would prefer that I use Wellbutrin, an antidepressant. I thought that was weird, but went for it. He told me to continue to smoke as usual and that I would slowly want to stop. ( i thought that was even weirder. LOL) But I did as was told and within about a month I was only smoking a few cigarettes a day. I picked a date ( a few weeks away) and decided that would be my last day, and it was!!

For me the trick was taking one day at a time and not feeling guilty if I wanted to smoke. I didn't talk to anyone about it for fear of being judged if I failed. Please, just take one day at a time and if you slip, there is always tomorrow. If you make one day, be happy with that. This has been the hardest thing I have ever done but the one thing that I'm most proud of. Now I need to work on my weight. LOL

In Nov it was one year of not smoking. I still just take it ONE day at a time.

Don't give up, you have lots of support here and we don't judge you, only help you.

hugs
