Guest guest
My son has had two CST sessions so far, in the hopes of improving his plagio/tort. I have no experience with it at all, and just wondered if anyone would be willing to give advice about how to determine if its helping? or about what the actual treatment is? I am not sure about the " treatment " I just don't see what is being done...and the practitioner seems to want him to be more relaxed which slightly suprises me as I thought it didn't matter. so I wonder if its not going to work out? he seems to have lots of experience including infants, though I get the feeling he sees more younger infant who " sleep " during the session. My 6 mo old has been very restless lately . He reccomends about 3 appts the first week and maybe that will be all that is needed? how does this sound? I feel confused about the cst., just want to do anything that will help, but not understanding how/if it will help him. le mom to 6 mos
Guest guest
CST is kind of weird and that it seems like it's not doing anything. The traditional "light" approach is very light touching of the head. It involves the flow of the cerebral-spinal fluid and energy that is tranmitted from the person doing it. At first, I though it couldn't be possibly doing anything, but I have seen the improvements. Our doctor (medical doctor) explained that it can release the bones if they are "stuck" It would help if they are relaxed and can hold still, but ours is very skilled at working around 's movements. She does occasionally asked to come an sit while she counts to 20 so that she can get some extended time on her head. is now old enough that she can comply with that. Other times, she puts on a DVD or lets play with toys so that she'll hold still while being worked on. What it looks like is a lot of touching the head, the back, the stomach lightly. She also touches her ears. At times, she will hold her hands slightly away from her body to get a feel of 's energy flow. she will massage her head at times, but most of it is very light touch. Yes, it all sounds so unscientific and that's why it is an alternative treatment. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it for myself. One thing that I find very interesting is that if you just hold your hands on both sides of the head, you will feel something that seems like it could be that energy (or maybe it's just blood flow). Anyway, we were told that if you just put your hands on the head and work on transmitting the though of "round out" while doing it, you could help. We have home exercises that we do, but it seems like most people don't. The number and frequency of sessions seems to really vary. Maybe some of it depends upon the age of the baby/toddler as well as what is really going on with the head. If the flow is fairly good, then a bunch of treatments aren't needed. From what I've read, the more problems that the baby is having, the more likely it is that things are really not flowing well. also has reflux and food allergies so that may be why she has needed longer treatment. Plus, she is older so the sutures don't release as easily. , mom to , 27 months STARband grad May 2009 Chiro and CST land for those with experience with CST My son has had two CST sessions so far, in the hopes of improving his plagio/tort.
