Guest guest
Hi, I was wondering about that zip-n-squeez thing they advertised. Has anyone used it and found it to be useful? I am thinking about getting it, and was wonding if anyone had any thoughts. Austria
Guest guest
Definitely the jaw wrap was for me. I was not tightly banded, nor wired, so I didn't need the zippie bags. The cookbook is also helpful, and offers suggestions about what's going on in your mouth and jaw, and what to expect, I think. cammie > Hi, > > I was wondering about that zip-n-squeez thing they advertised. Guest guest
Is that the general concensus? That you don't need zip-n-squeeze if you're not wired shut? I seemed to have gotten the impression that even if you aren't wired shut you are still on a liquid diet at least for a couple of weeks....? Guest guest
Hi - I'm 13 days post op and I wasn't wired shut, just tightly banded and I had/have no trouble drinking from a regular cup - I just kind of let it seep through my front teeth and it works really well. Hope this helps! Val > > > Hi, > > > > > > I was wondering about that zip-n-squeez thing they advertised. Has > > > anyone used it and found it to be useful? Guest guest
Joanna - My OMS plans to NOT wire me shut, when I have my surgery next summer. He will be splinting and banding me shut, and told me that I will be on a liquid diet for the first four weeks. He will then desplint and deband me, and let me eat soft foods. He allows his patients who are nonwired to sip thru a straw, which I thought was forbidden. He didn't even know about the Zip'N Squeeze products so I provided him with some reading material. He says he doubts I will need to use one of those bags much after the first two weeks. He also expects me to be talking after the first two weeks with the splint in. He told me to stop using the dry erase board after the first two weeks and talk, even if no one understands a word I say. LOL. ~~ Diane > > > Hi, > > > > > > I was wondering about that zip-n-squeez thing they advertised. Has > > > anyone used it and found it to be useful? Guest guest
I sort of waffled and didn't order the Zip N Squeeze. I got by fine without them. However, if I had it to do over, I probably would order a couple. The set of four, I think? Just because it would have made things a little easier in those first few tough days. I managed to suck through a straw right away, and even to eat more solid foods, but the Zip bags would have probably been a lot less work. However, you might check with your doc to see what they provide. Mine sent me home with a jaw wrap/ice pack that was more than adequate for my needs. Guest guest
Jo, I was banded shut and was on a liquid diet for 2 and half weeks and I survived more than well without the zip n squeeze bags. I used tea cups and plastic cups to drink out of and a baby spoon for soups etc. By the end of my first week I had graduated to adult glasses. Now at 6 weeks post op I still use a baby spoon when eating food that requires a spoon simply because I'm no longer used to a big spoon but I've been using a fork and knife without any problems. I'm still restricted to a soft no chew diet. Sara > > > Hi, > > > > > > I was wondering about that zip-n-squeez thing they advertised. Has > > > anyone used it and found it to be useful? Guest guest
Jo, I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks after my surgery and now I am on a soft food diet. I was not splinted or banded and my OS recommended drinking from a cup right away. I like Sara am still using a baby spoon at 3 weeks post op which I have found very helpful. I am still not able to open my mouth very wide and just find the baby spoon a lot easier to get soft food in. Best of Luck to ya, --Caboose > > > > Hi, > > > > > > > > I was wondering about that zip-n-squeez thing they advertised. > Has > > > > anyone used it and found it to be useful?
